USCIS and the State Department will recognize a marriage certificate produced by the government of Singapore. In short, if you are legally married in Singapore, you're married, period.

Exceptions are limited to same sex marriages and other than the first wife in a polygamous family.

Hello i'm back again. Our current status "Post Decision Activity" approved :) . Anyways i'm having problems with the first stage of visa processing. I received two email pdf documents "acl universal" and "paosf i-130 universal" i assume the first document for my wife the beneficiary and 2nd me the petitioner and argh should my wife appoint me as the attorney?. In what manner should i do this.

Also since we are mid-way through this i'm raising concerns on my wife's passport. Wife was issued a new passport of may just after i filed i-130 of march. She said new passport number is different but wouldn't uscis be following her old one making it invalid? She did this so all her id's etc reflect my last name. Do i need to worry and call uscis. thanks again.
