Who said it was to save Iraqi christians? The point I made was about the perception among the uneducated right wing, abetted by the usual suspect media outlets, that somehow we were bringing religious freedom to Iraq. There was at least one prominent general who explicitly exhorted the troops under his command thusly on the occasion of their deployment to the war theatre. I cannot remember who, maybe someone else here will recall. The previous administration was quite good at some of their 'dog-whistle' communications to their base when they could communicate something to them while maintaining official deniability of same for the public record. It might be an interesting exercise here to see how many actually stated or implied reasons there were for the war. At least one was religious!

Killing is justifiable in self defense and nothing else. Our attacks on terrorist are fully justifiable. Attacking Iraq is questionable, but if the intelligence was correct, then it was self defense. The intelligence came from the Clinton administration and the Brits, but of course the Bush administration gets all of the blame. But what do I know, I am just an "uneducated right wing" nut.

btw..someone earlier posted saying someting about the US draft in the military. There hasn't been a draft in over 30 years.

The collective US is composed of individuals that hire paid killers. Is that simple enough? You (plural, inclusive) elect a government to collect taxes, then take kids, clothe them, train them, give them rifles, and then pay them twice a month to kill bad guys. Simple.

So you also believed that the war was about religious freedom? Or did you just have trouble reading my post? There is undoubtedly a part of the left wing that is also uneducated but polls after elections consistently show a significant knowledge gap on average between 'libruls' and tea-partiers. I have to hand it to the right-wing media, they seem to have made it respectable among a large part of the populace to be ignorant to the point of seeming to revel in their ignorance!
