I didn't realize you want to only consider things that occur within the borders of the UK. Convenient for you now because I am not an expert at all in internal politics of the UK! But you don't get off the hook that easily. This is a global issue which is obvious to any thinking person and obviously germane to why we discuss it here in the US! And yes, there is a cycle of reaction and retaliation going way back! None of the major groups/religions have 'clean hands' on this! But you surely know this! You can't be that ignorant. It's ironic to read some of these posts. You would think that anyone of you have actually been to the UK which I doubt. If you had then you would know that anti immigrant sentiment among the native British population(And when I say Native I mean white) has been ongoing for decades.

Muslims are just the new buzz word for anti immigrant thought. The British spent a lot of time invading other peoples lands and colonizing their natives. The British had no problem reaping the benefits from pillaging those lands and there was no dissension from the British public for it because all was kept at arms length.

The legendary stiff upper lip would have no need to quiver if harm was done to others in other lands in the name of the Crown or as its known the "Commonwealth". The majority of immigrants that are NON EU immigrants come from former Commonwealth countries. Pakistan and India of course; Uganda and many other places whose citizens immigrate or at least try to immigrate to the UK.

This is not a new phenomenon. What is new is the idea that Islam is in some way going to change Britain as it is today.

These kinds of faux polls are only published to fan the flames of mistrust in the UK. Muslims are here to stay no matter where you live so rather than scare yourselves , it just seems more prudent to educate yourself as to what Islam actually is. Islam wasn't spread by the sword. It was spread by Knowledge. It would do us all so well to attain some.

And thats why I said why knowledge is what has spread Islam. ISlam is a religion of narrations primarily. The Quran is memorized and taught. Hadeeths are memorized and taught. That is how Islam spread. I am not negating the various invasions in the middle ages, No not at all, but I am pointing to the fact that knowledge is what drives Islam. You dont have to accept it.

Well the reply to my post may have been clueless but certainly my sentiments were not. Let me hold your hand and lead you down the path of my thought pattern.

Britain colonized many nations and as a result once Britain left those nations bereft of their wealth, those nations people wanted to immigrate to the UK. Some of those peoples expected that they would be able to until they realised that their British National Overseas Passports were as worthless as the paper that it was printed on. Well actually let me take that back as in reality the ink was worth more.

Indian Gurkhas who "fought in the war"(A phrase you hear constantly in the Uk that precedes anti immigrant sentiment) were denied the ability to settle in the UK for a long time. How's that for fairness in immigration?

I never said that Britain had recently colonized anywhere recently but the effects of their past colonization has come home to roost in the numbers of people from those former colonies that want to and seek to live in the UK.

As for Islam being spread by the sword. Its as true a statement as Christianity was driven by greed. True in some aspects but not true in the whole sense of what I was talking about.

It would if you have an innate distrust for Islam and Muslims, however if you are somewhat balanced in your thinking then it would make sense. In these days Muslims give dawah with knowledge not with force.

When I mentioned colonialism in my post, someone said that Britain wasnt colonizing any where at this time. This is a true statement likewise it is perfectly legitimate for me to state that Islam is spread by knowledge at this time even if you hold the erroneous idea that it was spread by the sword.

I hope you are able to grasp what I am saying.
