For those of you who have Viet fiancee or wife...do you think they are bossy? My two ex-wives sure was. I hope my current fiancee doesn't become like that later on.

"A" for effort for sticking with the same natioanlity after two failed marriages. But you can't classify an entire nationality into one personality group. You at least can compare. If you have two previous marriages that failed then I'm sure you can look back and remember the first signs of the personality traits you didnt like. You grow wiser.

Also don't blame everything on your wife either. This is a two way street and your personality and actions can greatly influence the attitudes of your spouse. I just hope there were other reasons for divorcing your wives besides the fact that they were "bossy". What do you mean by bossy anyway.

Like they wouldn't let you go out and party or random nonesense arguments that could be a sign of larger underlying issues within the relationship that are hard to verbalize so a spouses emotional state can change (i.e. bossy, irritated, annoyed, frustrated)

Just my experiences that wasn't directed at you because I don't know your specific situation.

If I could be anything, I would be a tear.

Does it matter what I think? If you're married, you should know your thinking and/or opinion wouldn't matter much in the relationship. She's ALWAYS right! and if you can't adapt to accept that, you'll be heading into a divorce.

Just remember, life over there in VN is NOT real! Your money will be worth a LOT less once you get back over here. Back to reality, cowboy!

Im involved in the decision making and my opinion does count but my wife is clearly the boss and I love it. She has her head on much straighter than me

My wife is a very traditional Vietnamese woman, and she tells me repeatedly that I'm the boss of the house. She also makes darn sure that I'm well aware of how she feels about each decision, and what the consequences will be for me if I don't decide the way she thinks I should.

I am always consulted and asked for my opinions but they never count for squat except what to eat and where. Luckily I am a lot bigger and older and she has to use persuasion to get me to do what she wants. I usually get something I want to do anything she wants. My wife is very good at knowing how to get me to go along with her and I am very good at making sure she has to use persuasion.good.gif

In both the male and female version of the traditional Vietnamese "Ao Dai", there is a pair of pants under the long shirt.

ao_dai.jpg

I got in hot water last spring. My wife's uncle needed a favor from my step-daughter. He needed her to stay at his home for a few weeks and babysit his kids when they got home from school each day. My step-daughter didn't want to do it, but my wife felt obligated because she owes a lot to this uncle. In typical Vietnamese fashion, they presented the case to me to make a decision.

I blew it - big time! :help:

I didn't think like a Vietnamese father. I thought like an American father. I said I wouldn't force my step-daughter to do this if she didn't want to because I didn't think it was her responsibility to repay debts on behalf of her mother. That was NOT what my wife wanted to hear.

In the end, my step-daughter didn't have to go. I had to smooth things over with my wife's uncle, and also work things out with my wife. We now have an agreement where her kids are concerned. She consults with me in private and let's me know what decision is expected, and I publicly announce the decision to her kids.

Yeah, I'm the boss, alright! :bonk:
