I agree that ultimately everything will turn out fine. Honestly, I don't really get into the service-center bashing. I know the adjudicators are doing the best they can with the resources they have. It's the uncertainty and inability to extract information from USCIS that bothers me more than anything. If someone told me "It's going to take 8 months, but your wife's case will DEFINITELY be adjudicated within 8 months," I'd be fine with that.

few notes to a discussion already started with mathman.

since I seem to be one of "the last of the Mohicans" in this january wonderful crowd of people, I was noticing smth odd about Vermonth processing center.

february i-751 applicants on another thread have been stuck (almost dead the whole Vermont list on approvals) while california is rocking.

I would have been very surprised if any of those guys would have gotten approvals, before adjudicators are done with january files.

so back to you mathman, I might take your advice and on monday, kick some american bureaucracy a**. simply call them and let them know that my 6months waiting mark is overdue. I doubt it will change immediately smth, but eitherway, would love to give them some extra heat, on these very very hot summer days here in brooklyn. the saga goes on ....

I wonder if the folks in the middle of the list are really still waiting, or if they just haven't posted?

I have been wondering the SAME THING! :yes:

I feel that some people aren't checking in anymore....and that really sucks.

I know they're not obligated but we're all watching their status to see how fast INS is processing these :huh:

No matter how my case goes (approved denied interview), I'll be sure to let you guys know.

ok mathman, I guess I have smth that might interest you.

though I was bragging about not calling USCIS, I did call them (out of that principle that you pointed out: one has to keep the government under pressure,in order it works properly :) )

passed the first defense barrier (it was easy as my 6 month mark has passed so far) and got transfer to the second tier, which i have to say, was funny and somehow successful.

the officer on the other side (with quite a funny name and an asian accent, oh my this is an immigrants' country) said that it was the case to place a service request though she was a bit hesitant at the beginning.reason being, because she said ppl that priory date was 01/09 were processed right now. So maybe I will have to wait for my papers after 2 weeks max, to be dealt with. however she didnt know anything further as the case was with the supervisor at the processing center. I agreed that she place the service request, logged the confirmation number and wished IO a good day. afterall they knew nothing more than I did. but hope this request will push things forward as seem those guys at vermont are not synched with the real time frame we live in (or california center for that matter).

hence mathman, it might be true that your application is being process or has already been processed and the officer is updating your case as we speak:) .... or, well i dont wanna go down this path, but you can imagine: chaos is reigning in vermont and we are simply its subject.

the waiting game continues

on the bright side there are very few chances this waiting will become a problem, as seem vermont is struggling with most of the applications they have to handle.

out of curiosity, did you try and contact USCIS and tell them that you are beyond 6 months wait time?

what was their excuse, and how did they brush you off :) in case you contact them?

Not yet, I was thinking of giving it a few more weeks and then calling... I know how busy and backed up VSC is so I was trying to be a bit more patient before calling... but I will soon if I don't hear anything!!

If there's no update this month I will definitely call them first thing next month!!!

I hope they haven't skipped our batch since they approved most of the applicants after us :(

Oh no! Don't think I suck for not updating. I never asked to get on the list in the first place because I didn't want to play the list game. Thus I didn't update. If I ever look at this thread, I scroll past that long list as quickly as possible to get to questions or problems that might be posted. So I see I'm there as VSC #1 (numero uno T-bone, si man.) Oh well.

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
