I-751 January filers

:dance: Green card ordered!!! We had received nothing by mail or e-mail, and I just decided to check the USCIS web site to see if it was updated, and there was a post on 7/19 saying that the green card is in production!! Guess that means we're approved!

Congrats to everyone who has gotten it already, and we'll be thinking of you all who are still waiting -- looks like Vermont is making their way through the piles!! :-)

I had the same concern about a lost RFE. In the past, when we have visited our local service center (Hartford, CT), things always seemed to get moving shortly afterwards because they will call Vermont and find out the status of the case and try to get some sort of answer for you. It's like the old addage: squeeky wheel gets the grease. It seems to me that the phone call gets your record found and pulled out of the pile and then they just process it -- but who really knows...

you are right math man, and I see your logic as convincing.

then again I see these worries about RFE lost in the mail, and you building hypothesis based on the fact that we never see under the hood what is really going on, etc etc.

let me tell you, it is fun to put yourself in those shoes and run a simulation of the extreme case.

however you are not in those shoes, as believe me, they would have let you know, if you have failed the RFE answer after all that time. and if you are lagging in your response they have many ways of directly contacting the applicant or interested parties and get to the bottom of all this.

so take it from me: no news are good news in our cases.

it seem odd to be the singled out application, in the approval list (while left and right you have only approved cases) or to see that your file hasnt been touched from the day they received it(there is no LUD on mine since end january

then again those guys work in a chaotic way, and therefore fall behind expectation that people have, of a computer based technology functioning government.

they might as well come after 9-10 months (totally late) and say, it was a technical mistake, here is you GC, so shut up and dont forget to pay your taxes.

It is always good to keep an eye on the disfunctional government (not that this will change things anyway) as for them we are just numbers and we are treated as such!

so leave out the unknown variable (and the emotional one) and rewrite this equation, describing USCIS chaos, at its best

just wanted to update my status:

yesterday I received an envelope from USCIS (holding breath....) and to my surprise it was nor an RFE neither an interview appt, but ANOTHER BIOMETRIC appointment for July 28th! how could this be?? I already had my Biometrics on 2/17 (see my case timeline), and on this notice it says that 'your fingerprint card has expired'...it makes me think that USCIS maybe screwed up and didn't get my fingerprints in February...either way this is kinda disappointing!!

anyone has ever heard of such a thing?

anyway, my status guess should now read 7/28 for a BIOMETRICS again!

USEFUL TIP: I have got out of the United States twice this year with an expired green card and my extension letter with no problems (both times via land through Laredo, TX). Just a heads up! I would not be scared to cross if u have your extension letter, they just let u go with no problem!

Sorry to hear that... Hmm... I don't think I've heard of redoing biometrics because of expiration while waiting for approval... Maybe you should call USCIS just to be sure??
