Since my wife recently passed the 6-month mark, we called USCIS today to try to have a service inquiry made. However, the representative said that VSC is currently processing I-751's for January 3, so we're technically not beyond standard processing time. (Our NOA1 date is January 11.) We'll give it another try in a couple of weeks if we haven't heard anything by then.

Actually counting back the days to Jan 3, i make it 191 days, that is beyond the 6 month timeframe and your date is at the 6 month mark.

Yeah, I know. I thought about arguing--I mean, we're obviously beyond 6 months and the stated processing time on the USCIS website is 6 months. It's also clear from the list of approvals in this thread that VSC is processing cases later than January 3. I just got the feeling that there wasn't anything the USCIS rep could do. If my wife doesn't get her approval in the next couple of weeks, I do plan on contacting our congressman.

well seem like Vermont is still dormant for my case.

eitherway I dont understand the anxiety of the people to get hold of the 10 year plastic ASAP.

I can travel and work with no restriction, and this delay counts against naturalization due time, if we want to continue the american dream this coming January.

have no intention to call if the 6 months milestone will be crossed, give them some more space ... like a month over if you really want to know who is sleeping over your file.

the delay is pure bureaucracy, as to this stage they have no grounds to oppose your case.so chill, under the Caribbean sun and feel sympathy for those who do boring jobs:)

will keep you folks posted if smth moves on those Vermont bushes ...

On one level I agree--my wife's life is not going to change a bit once she gets her 10-year green card. My main concern, once I started seeing people get approved who filed after me, was that perhaps VSC sent us an RFE and it got lost in the mail. I have read about cases where this has happened and where the applicant was subsequently denied because he/she didn't respond to the RFE. This is a real potential problem with I-751's because unlike for other types of cases, USCIS does not appear to update the status of an I-751 case on its website when an RFE is issued. Moreover, it doesn't appear that the USCIS reps (at least the Tier 1 reps) have any more info on your case than you can see by using the USCIS website, so they can't tell you if an RFE has been issued either.

Now having said all that, I think the likelihood of my wife and me receiving an RFE is low because we sent in a lot of solid evidence. But I also believe in trying to hold government agencies accountable. USCIS says they process I-751's in 6 months. I'm a pretty patient person and waited the stated 6 months without complaining. Now those 6 months are up, and I think it's very reasonable that I at least get an explanation for why my wife's case hasn't been adjudicated.

then again I see these worries about RFE lost in the mail, and you building hypothesis based on the fact that we never see under the hood what is really going on, etc etc.

let me tell you, it is fun to put yourself in those shoes and run a simulation of the extreme case.

however you are not in those shoes, as believe me, they would have let you know, if you have failed the RFE answer after all that time. and if you are lagging in your response they have many ways of directly contacting the applicant or interested parties and get to the bottom of all this.

so take it from me: no news are good news in our cases.

it seem odd to be the singled out application, in the approval list (while left and right you have only approved cases) or to see that your file hasnt been touched from the day they received it(there is no LUD on mine since end january

then again those guys work in a chaotic way, and therefore fall behind expectation that people have, of a computer based technology functioning government.

they might as well come after 9-10 months (totally late) and say, it was a technical mistake, here is you GC, so shut up and dont forget to pay your taxes.

It is always good to keep an eye on the disfunctional government (not that this will change things anyway) as for them we are just numbers and we are treated as such!

so leave out the unknown variable (and the emotional one) and rewrite this equation, describing USCIS chaos, at its best

I agree that ultimately everything will turn out fine. Honestly, I don't really get into the service-center bashing. I know the adjudicators are doing the best they can with the resources they have. It's the uncertainty and inability to extract information from USCIS that bothers me more than anything. If someone told me "It's going to take 8 months, but your wife's case will DEFINITELY be adjudicated within 8 months," I'd be fine with that.

We got our approval letter today, dated 7/13/11. :dance: We are so excited and relieved! I hope the rest of you get yours very soon!!

We thought for sure we'd have a longer wait because of our late biometrics. Now to wait for the GC!
