I just hope this is a huge mistake, Antonio told me we both received a notice from the National Visa Center this morning. I was hoping it was good news, that they were going to start working on his interview date, but nope. They emailed me saying that they want me to send them Antonio's ORIGINAL birth certificate and our ORIGINAL Marriage certificate. I sent them my original and his original in the first place! What the hell is this??? So I called them and the dude said that he'll have a supervisor look at it and it'll take 10-15 business days and to call back by then. I sent them the same documents we got from the same place when I started the petition in the first place and it was accepted. Why are they saying they're not certified copies for this last step?!!! THEY'RE THE SAME!! Freaking bastards!!!!!!!!! I hope it was a mistake.... The things I sent were all certified... :/

This was for the final package after the affidavit of support. The packet was supposed to include two 2x2 passport photos of my husband, his visa application form, his original birth certificate that he got from the town hall, my marriage certificate that I got which has a seal because I noticed it when my friend was translating the documents to english with me, police certificate, photocopy of his data on passport and photocopy of his ID in El Salvador... They were certified copies since they had the seal and said in spanish, that if altered, they would be invalid!!! What could this mean guys/gals??? I'm super worried and I just want my hubby here....

I sent what was needed to be sent with the I-130. I sent the originals (certified copies) and did the same thing with this for the NVC.. Do they need to be apostilled?

NOTE: USCIS only needed plain old photo copies, however, NVC wants the originals to verify the validity of the copies, they will be returned at the visa interview.

call up the national visa center for adive

I called them, and they told me just to call in 10 to 15 business days to see if they will need anything else... Has anyone had this problem? The marriage certificate and birth certificate are equivalent in validity as to birth certificates here having the seal of the county clerk in the USA.... Certified copies, wouldn't that mean getting it from town hall right, both documents have the signature and seal of town hall.. or as they call it there, family registry... Would it need an apostille? Is that what they mean as CERTIFIED??? I'm so confused :/ The lady that I called didn't even know what an apostille was...

Don't pay much attention when the tier one tells your to call in 10-15 days...they are robots and repeat the same lines for different scenarios. I would call them back mid-week next week. If the copies were certified, and it sounds as if they are, you probably have nothing to worry about. Possibly having the documents apostilled and ready to go may not be a bad idea though it should not be needed. However, better safe than sorry. Godd luck.

Thanks, sadly though I did that today, I told my husband, hurry go get em!!! haha. But all that stuff's closed for the holidays so I kinda have to wait til the third to have those documents shipped in 3 days to me or to the NVC... blehh But I'll take your advice, I'll call them around wednesday or thursday. Are you saying the people are robots? haha I asked the lady if I had to have them apostilled and she didn't even know what that meant... Hahah I'd like to work for the NVC, that way I can give some people REAL help and good service. :)

They are robots in the sense they only say what they are programmed (told) to say. I believe many of them would like to help more but they must do what they are told. To get further information you have to get to a tier 2 human.

I'm assuming your documents are original certified copies from issued by the nonUS country. They gave me this same issue. I sent them the original divorce papers of my husband. Which was printed on plain paper with a stamp that said certified copy of the issuing state. They did not accept it. I called NVC and insisted on that it was the original document that was given to him and it said certified copy on it. They said they will put in a note to reveiw it and call back in 10-15 days. I still received the RFE.

So I requested another certified document. And what I just received in the mail looks much prettier and more legitimate. Pretty colors, red and blue fibers, irridescent seal...I believe they will be much more pleased with this.

Our last interveiw they request another birth certificate for my husband and the new one had more security measures on it. Some of these documents are old and can be easily forged. In my experience requesting new documentation means that the new security technologies will be used to produce the document.

So yes. Wait for the RFE. Get your paperwork apostilled and send them what they want. Don't just wait and hope that they will change their mind about your documentation. In their eyes they didnt make a mistake.

If I could be anything, I would be a tear.

May I know how were you able to request for a certified divorce papers with irridescent seal? My husband's divorce papers were just printed on plain paper and certified. I hope you can tell me how so I would let my husband request for it also in case they'd prefer that document.

I did it all online actually. I googled divorce records for the state of the divorce. It was Utah and they were in collaboration with VITALCHECK.com. I requested the document through the website and they had me scan proof of my identity, proof of my marriage to my husband, AND a power of attorney letter. My husband typed up a simple letter saying I had power of attorney and got it notarized by a government agency in his country. This is all proof that I was allowed to request a document that wasn't my own divorce. I received it in the express mail within 4 days after I requested it. It came out to 58 dollars (including express mail option)

The state where the divorce occured is in Arkansas and the governmentt there uses VitalCheck as well. My husband just ordered 2 copies and he mentioned $35, not sure if it's for each or both copies. He said it should arrive after 7-10 days. Fortunately he doesn't have to secure those requirements since it's his own divorce.

Thank you so much BellaRose. Hope you can send that document on the 28th like you said :) Merry Christmas!
