It wont hurt it,...

Have to ask though, have you had your interview yet?. Because if you haven't, they are are going to ask you everything off of the application you put in anyways, they even confirm overseas travel that you listed. That is your opportunity to volunteer that you also left for a week after paperwork was submitted. they will just most likely ask to see the itinerary, and passport as confirmation of what you said.

If you have had your interview, and are awaiting oath,..the N445 asks the question anyways. You have to complete it the day of oath and are asked to bring any supporting documents of you have travalled since your interview and oath. When you get checked in, they go through the questions on the back of the form with you,..and again, thats when you will provide proof of travel.

I know someone right now, who has left the US for Christmas, and gets back a week before their interview. It wont be a problem, as long as your honest about your travel, the reasons for travel etc.

Nothing... all you need to do when you go for the interview is to update your information on the N-400 when the IO asks (or you should suggest it). All you need to do is provide the IO with the latest trip, dates and how many days.

You should be all set!

Not a problem at all.

The reason why they usually ask about travel between interview and oath is clear:

Assuming you barely met the residency requirement when having the interview, meaning you were almost 50% of the time of your residency outside the US, and then you left for . . . say another month, they would have to check if you are still eligible.

For the rest of us, not a problem at all.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Step daughter was given 15 days notice to appear for her biometrics, wife was given 21 days notice for her interview, stated she will not hear anything about her oath ceremony for at least two weeks.

So if this holds true, as long as when you leave and haven't received any appointment notices, you should be fine for just leaving for a week, missing these appointments may result in a long delay.

Reported trips have to be current to the date you sent in your application, asked again if you made any trips outside of the USA greater than 24 hours from the time you sent in your application and your interview. Then asked again if you made any trips outside of the USA greater than 24 hours between your interview and your oath ceremony. Then you are home free after your oath ceremony. Well at least until you get your US passport.

One week shouldn't be an issue, but I have heard some people getting their interview notice a day before the interview. Is this the norm? No. Does it happen? Yes from time to time, so just be informed of the rare possibility of something like that...
