Quiet mate, not looking forward to getting out to the snow on the east coast either!!

The medicals not too bad, just make sure you have your jabs up to date before you go - cos they really sting you there, 30 odd quid a throw for one injection. Luckily mine was all up to date so I was all set.

Its not a totally nude exam. First you go in and have the chest x ray in a seperate room. thats ok. Then you go back in the waiting room til you're called. Then the dr calls you in. Height weight eyesite etc, then lay on the medical-bed type thing and presses on your stomach, back, pulls the curtain and tells you to strip to your undercrackers. SHE ( i know - ithought #######)! then gets you lay back on the bed, takes your blood pressure, takes a blood sample - then lifts up your undercrackers and has a look at your Jacksons.

Then its over!

hmmm doesn't sound tooo bad :P Looking on the embassy website, there's a medical questionnaire that needs doing before turning up at the medical, do you fill that out there or have it completed beforehand?

Unlike here, I believe Monday is a normal working day in the US so hopefully the NVC will crack on with it.

I think in my case I was on the blower every day - a bit like the USCIS, its best to speak to a supervisor to get more solid info - a couple of times, I was given incorrect info - ie 'we havent heard from the embassy yet', or 'no its not been forward to the embassy yet'.

Quite annoying - I was told the NVC were still waiting for an answer on the expedite on one occasion, when in actual fact the Embassy had approved the expedite and my case had already been forwarded 2 -3 days previously.

just wondering,

on your I-864, did you have a household of 3 or 4 entered in there?

I'm thinking I need to put 3. There will be 4 people in the household (me + wife + inlaws), but mother-in-law is not co-sponsoring.

Hey Paloma & Adam, congrats on your expedite, such a great holiday present! Glad you guys will be together sooner xx

Our case was expedited also (different criteria) and now we're collecting all the documents for the NVC stage. Sorry to tag along on your post, but wanted to ask RichiJenny or one of the others from the UK about the medical process. We didn't realize you could schedule your physical before the consulate received your case! Do you just ring up the docs in London? How long a wait before you can be scheduled? Do they look for a case # or anything? Also, how long does it take results to get back... just wondering if hubsy could do it all in a oner by taking a week off work and travelling to London to do the physical and then have his interview (once scheduled) a few days later, or if he'd need to make a couple trips. Lots of questions, I know, but we're hoping to get more info before he books any train tix or whatever.

The medical must be done in advance of the interview. I think you you need to allow at least one week between for the medical results to arrive at the embassy.

You can book medical exam as soon as your NVC case number is assigned, which yours obviously has been.

Aha, thanks :) I had read through that info before, a bit hastily, and thought the case # they were referring to was from the embassy, didn't know if they were one in the same from NVC. I knew London had changed procedures recently and wouldn't schedule an interview w/out the medical results, again wasn't sure if the embassy would direct you to schedule the medical or if you did it on your own. Guess he'll have to make two trips....

There's no way around it - as a friends of mine from here had his interview just a couple of days prior to his interview. When he attended the interview, they couldnt give him an answer until they had received his medical results. Ultimately he was denied after attending a second interview - due to a medical issue.

I would recommend having the interview as soon as you have your case #. Thats what the doctors asked me for on the phone. And you also have some paperwork upon attending the medical, which is why they require it.

When I booked my medical, they were not so busy, so from the day of phoning to the day of the medical - it was about 9 days or so, thats all.

Good luck, hope it goes smoothly for your husband.

Yes, the case number the NVC assign is the one that will follow you right thru the embassy too.
