which line at immigration for a permanent resident

My wife (permanent resident) and son (USC) are making their first trip abroad since coming to the US. Can my wife use the USC line at immigrations when returning from her trip?

The USC line and they go in the line together because they are traveling together.

When I returned to the US through San Francisco International Airport following a business trip to Japan this last summer, the line was marked "US Citizen/Permanent Resident". So US citizens and GC holders all went through the same line.

Does anyone know if the same is true for JFK (New York)? My wife and I are going to Spain for the holidays, but I'll be heading home first, then she'll be following after me (using her GC for the first time). Last night, we had a discussion about which line she'd be going through.

Every airport has signs/employees that would direct her to the right lane. Tipically LPRs and USCs share the same lane.

JFK has 3 separate lines: Visitors, Perm Residents (Greencard holders), and US Citizens.

It depends on the time of arrival and how busy the airport is. I have come back through JFK at night and found only 2 lines open. 1 was for USC/LPR and the other line was for visitors.
