Hi, everyone:

I've drafted a petition calling for reforms to the family-based immigration system that would build in the basic rights to accountability and transparency that Americans expect from their government. Specifically, the petition calls for reducing turnaround time to an average of 6 months (instead of a year); instituting an appeals system; setting up a timeline for administrative processing and review cases of 90 days, with supervisory review when that limit has been exceeded, and a number of other basic reforms discussed many times on these pages by VJers.

Please sign the petition. With the failure of the DREAM Act, we need to shift the focus of the immigration debate from unauthorized workers to the needs of US citizens whose basic rights are being violated by this dysfunctional system.
