"Additional Review"

Our interview was last week -- Monday we received a letter saying "An additional review of your case is required before a determination can be made as to your eligibility"

I have been banging my head against the wall trying to figure out what this means -- I don't think it is FBI checks because there was a section to check off for that and it wasn't checked. Also, they didn't say anything about that at the interview.

I have spoken to a lawyer -- he tells me it's "probably FBI checks" but wasn't certain. I have scheduled Infopass for Monday (though the letter specifically tells me that I'm not supposed to enquire for 6 months) and I plan to ask him to check if I don't get satisfaction for that (which I'm guessing I won't). Although waiting for FBI checks would suck, of that's what it is, that's something I can get my head around. Otherwise I'm struggling to understand what questions there would be about our eligibility, especially as they have not request more information.

I've spent hours trawling the internet and not found much.

Has this happened to anyone?

We were told at our interview that a decision would be made at a later date. We left baffled because as far as we were concerned we had EVERYTHING that they asked for and some !!

A few people told me it might have been the FBI checks but in addition a couple of people said that it may just have been that the officer adjudicating our case was not senior enough to sign it off without running it by a supervisor.

To cut a long story short we had our interview on the Wednesday afternoon and on Friday afternoon I got an email saying that my AOS had been approved.

Try not to worry about it too much. Unless you failed miserably to provide the information and documentation requested or you and your wife came accross as complete liars then I'm sure you'll see an approval notice very soon.

We all know it sucks to wait but that is all we can do in this process most of the time. Hurry up and wait! A lot of the VJ members that have gone to their interview lately are having to wait for FBI checks.
