I'm a citizen of Jordan and I'm flying back home on Tuesday to see my family. I have my Advance Parole document, and my EAD, but i still dont have my GC.

I heard that you need a transit visa if you are stopping in a German airport, which I am. I'll be on a Lufthansa to Frankfurt and then home, and same route back. But I also heard you don't need one. Anyone recently fly through Frankfurt home, and have any issues with this??

Unfortunately my flight is on Tuesday and I would not have time to issue one prior to leaving... my ticket was cheap and is non-refundable or changeable...any experiences would be great, thank you !!

According to the german mission, a posession of a re-entry permit is enough, even for citizens of Jordan, so you shouldn't need a transit visa.

No, a transit visa is not required. However, you cannot leave the airport. So if the weather gets bad and your flight is canceled, you will not be able to get a hotel to wait for a flight, but must stay in the airport.

My fiancee is currently in the air between Almaty and Frankfurt and her original flight was delayed 14 hours so she would have arrived Sunday evening. The Lufthansa people decided it would be better for her to wait in her home country rather than having to stay at the airport in Frankfurt since she did not have a visa or is from a country where a visa is not required.

Last year I had to transit thru Moscow as it was the last option in getting from London to Almaty. I did not have any visa for Russia, but was allowed to transit as long as my flight left within 24 hours and I did not leave the airport.

I hope the weather holds for your trip.

Hi thanks, Yeh I did see this, but it mentions the 're-entry permit' should be valid for 2 years. So they can't be talking about the AP, as that is only valid for one year of its issuance. anyone been through this experience ? please any info would help, thank you...

Hi Dave,

thank you so much, I hope so too. I have been getting so much conflicting information by browsing around the internet, because my country of origin is on the list. But many people are also saying if I leave from the same terminal in Frankfurt (which I do) I'm not even going to come accross an IO. I also called Lufthansa, I'm flying with them all the route there and back, and they said it's generally not required as it won't really be used in the transit section. But then I visited the consulate and they found so many ways to deny giving me one anyway...its just strange..which is why I'm wondering if others had similar status and passed thru with no problems.

Why we need a visa to wait for hours in an airport is beyond me anyway
