Question ? Im on SSDI and recieve food stamps although small amt I do recieve them. I have a co-sponser ready when needed, who has no kids not married, no bills. Will Immigration use my income as well as hers under these circumstances? Or am I wasting my time and money here on hopes. My husband lives in Egypt, I here in the U.S., were married over there last April. Thank You...

They won't combine your incomes. The qualified sponsor must qualify based on their own income. Financial qualification is only one issue among many to consider.

Ok Im confused full sponser has to be family member, co-sponser can be other, if they call it co-sponser then shouldn't that mean co (together with mine?) anyway she makes enough to support 2 ppl. So r they going to use just her income? (my friend) Yes I know many issues to consider also.

Please don't take offense because I am not aiming this comment towards you, but cases like this really amaze me. I am an ICU nurse and make decent money and am well established with little to no debt. Even with that fact, financially it was a strain for my husband and myself when he arrived. Due to issues with his green card that took over 7 months to straighten out (due to a mistake made by USCIS)he couldn't work for almost a year. Flying to Egypt isn't free either. I guess where there's a will there's a way. I just cannot imagine truthfully. I think it is somewhat irresponsible of the government to allow someone to help bring someone here from another country when they can't even support themselves. Just my opinion.

If her income is sufficient to qualify based on her own household size plus the intending immigrant, then YOUR FRIEND is the qualified sponsor. You also provide an affidavit of support but are not qualified. "Cosponsor" is a misnomer but commonly used here and at Consulates. The object of the whole affidavit of support exercise is to establish that the intending immigrant is unlikely to become a public charge. It's a subjective decision, not a simple minimum requirement that, if met, scores you a visa.

Forget all thoughts of "shouldn't that mean....?" It means whatever a Consular Officer decides it means.

I kind of thought that but makes no sense the word co-sponser, but I do agree it is whatever they decide it to be. I'm really aware of so many factors are involved here. My alternate plan I may have to move their to be with my husband is very real but either way the fight will continue. Thank you for your response and may have more questions in future.

Sounds like you've got the time to do the needed reading. I would get acquainted with the members and subject matter discussed in the Middle East, North Africa regional forum. Just scroll down the forums list to find it. You've got a difficult case.

I spent many months researching and reading everything I could get my hands on before I even went over there. I really love Egypt and spent three months there. So any info other than what I read every day including their news will be of great help. Thank you I will go to this forum.
