So, for those of you who read our "Complicated Love Story," my fiance and I are dealing with documents from 3 countries: Italy, France and the Ivory Coast.

For each of these countries (except Italy), I can translate myself, as I am bilingual in French and English - I have to be, my fiance speaks French!!! I plan to simply sign the translator sheet model that is attached to this forum : and have my sister sign one for Italian.

Is this sufficient?

Is there any specific, standardized expectations for translating documents (formatting, etc)? I was planning o just go by sections, and attach the translated document to the original/photocopy, organized in about the same way.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

You can translate documents yourself, and there is a translator's declaration of proficiency that you need to include with your translations.

I translated my own French and German police certificates, and just formatted the page the same way as the original document.

It is sufficient as long as the person translating attaches the certification statement that they are competent in both languages and that it is a true and accurate translation.
