Melbar,

How can a CO continuously keep a file on her desk? They tell you its not in AP but if they're reviewing documents, then isn't that in Administrative Processing? Let me ask you this, did you or didn't you get a "Number" to check on the website? And did they refer you to this for the Ankara Embassy? (see link)

http://turkey.usembassy.gov/niv_security.html

I don't think you're giving us all the information here... something is missing.

What it does sound like, is that you're going to have to wait until they're finished, which I do wish you a speedy decision from them. Also, has your wife contacted her congressman so he can assist the two of you and find out what the delay is, and IF it is in AP or not?

KD,

Good luck on your interview and it should go well! Only few more days and that's it!!! Relax and take it easy. You've got our prayers.

Baris, first you must relax because you're losing it now!

Your wife did not go through all this Visa work for you to pop off and say, "Amerika'ya gelmiyorum"! You really have no idea how costly it is for the US citizen both in time and money. I do not even have to mention about our Heart's desire to be with our Askim.

To say for her to withdraw and pull the entire file is going to be on both of your records and I'd look very closely at how that might effect you later should she move to TR and later, you want to return to the USA.

Do not lose hope about what theyr'e telling you two.

Just wait to see what they say! When they make a decision is when you make the choice if you stay in Adana or come to the States, but do not get hasty and hurry up with something that can be a larger mistake later for you both. Especially, if she is working with a stable job now. I do not know if you realize this Baris, but jobs here are not that easily obtained due to our economy. You do not want her to lose her benefits because "you want to be together' and are impatient.

Also, STOP talking like they're pointing out "all muslims"... yes we know that they will look closely at what THEY (not us here), consider sketchy files, and they should. They're protecting the American Citizen and our Homeland Security. PERIOD! If you want to complain about that, then you should read the other portals first who are really scrutinized much more severely such as Nigeria, Asia (China & Viet Nam), Columbia, Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, Philippines, and Morroco. I can tell you now NOT ALL of them are muslim countries.

Has it ever occured to you that you are under 25 years old, not completed your education at University, not gone to Army either? Did you submit a deferrance for military service or make arrangements to pay the Turkish Gov't and do an expedited service? Maybe they're having to check in with Turkish Laws as you are their National. I don't know but just you popping off and saying "I don't want to come to America" is just that, impatient and irrational thinking. If I were your wife, that alone would very much upset me and I can assure you, she's probably got enough stress going on with this (more than you).

Baris, can you ask the people who want you go to work for a month to month contract? Is this to work abroad (out of TR)? If it is in Turkey, then why can't you go? Within the country you can always get back to Ankara if they need you. Also, you should be actively working while you're waiting anyhow in order to save money for the States. I thought you said you worked with your Father on his farm? Going to another city is not a big deal as you can always bus back to Adana very easily. Sheesh try going to a US base outside TR; its a totally different ballgame.

You said you were not in AP and then you said this, "my wife gave them the number what they is in AP its takes long 5 mont or 6 monts sometimes year..." This is WHY WE ARE CONFUSED! Nobody said you were hiding anything, but somewhere it appears there is a break in the message of AP or being on the CO's desk.

If I were Melek, I'd write and call into my Congressman and ask for assistance. PERIOD. I am quite surprised at her for not have done this at this point since it's been a month now since interview. Calling in everyday and not getting a straight answer (for you or her) doesn't seem like it is useful. At least this way, you two will know what they are requesting and maybe by the Grace of God, melek can produce what they're looking for so you can get approved.

OK chill out now and get pro-active with WIFE BEING THE FIRST. Heck Baris, have her call me if she is unclear.

Mari

KD,

Wow you waited 16 Months for the interview!? THAT is a very long time between NOA2 and Embassy Interview.....omg. OK do you have all your documents prepared now and ready to go!? Very Exciting. Where in the States is your wife now? (I think you might have mentioned it but I forgot). Will your wife return to TR when you have the Visa or remain here in US and then you coming on your own? I would love to go see all my family after Kadir has his Visa. But we must think of budget and wedding and any other costs incurred; you know, be very realistic.

Melbar,

I am not sure you understand how Visa works once it is in your hands. You have SIX (6) months to come to the States from date Visa is issued. SO! GET THE JOB IN KUSADASI because you're not going to miss anything. Also, you're going to need to bring your own money here to help your wife. Think like this: Who will pay for your flight over? Who is paying for rent of house IN CALIFORNIA (EXPENSIVE btw), Who will pay grocery? Who will pay for insurance? SEE? You must think like the head of household now and not be so dependent on your wife (like she's your caretaker). What as a husband and man of house be bringing with him to contribute to the household? GO TO WORK and from my understanding you will not make the money in Adana.

So let me clarify: If you start in April 2011, you will have till October 2011 when the Visa Expires. If you are approved in May, you have till November 2011 to complete your contract and the Visa expires. SEE? So I am now wondering if you or wife studied the Visa conditions after approval?

Now if they approve you, you make sure in the original signed contract you state IN WRITING (signed & dated), that should your Visa be approved, you will be giving notice & work 2-4 weeks and then you will be moving to the States. **Unless that is, you want to remain until your contract is finished.

You have been very ancy Baris --- instead of watching the clock (embassy site), why don't you study the facts and compare work contract to the timeline of Embassy AP approval? While we are unsure about appoval time, this is no reason for you to sit home and not work! Have you got the Army documents for deferment and agreement? Because they (Embassy) is going to look for that, so if you do not have this, there is a post ... let me see if I can find it.... hang on... OK Read this post:

Re: Turkish Military -- http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/290247-turkey/ Specifically, post # 1 & 6. Baris, both you and wife should be aware of this. Now, since you're have no real intentions at this point to do your military service, do you have $850 Euro or, $10,000 USD to pay for the agreed Turkish military time of 3 weeks? Hence, why you need to go to work. I wouldn't expect your wife to cover that either since she will shoulder most (if not all) living expenses until you find a job. Not fair to her, because you didn't go to the Army when you could have. Unless you already have your arangement with orda (maybe you already do?), then this is something which needs to be taken care of.

And lastly, your words: " ONE DAY USA WILL NEED ME ... they can not find a person just like me...i am not going usa its enough for them i am not giving up with my wife..we will be together forever... next week i will tell u about my journey for the last time ... i wont be here also... if i go for work i can not use computer anytime ...so take care of u and everybody thanks for helps" end quote.

Now do you see how ridiculous that sounds after you have calmed down? You should mentally take note that what you publish on a public forum remains and can only be retracted by you in writing; but people who read it do not forget. In other words, be very careful of what you say Baris. Has it not occured to you that the US Govt has an agency that has a specific department which only reviews and studies social networks (facebook, my space, twitter, VJ, and several other social sites). Why? because they're looking for suspicious activity that could endanger our Homeland Security. That's why. By the way, if the US needed you, they would have called you by now and there are a bazillion others who are very well educated and highly qualified for what they would need. So don't get all heady about it.

Everybody in this thread is under pressure, you have no idea. We all have our little 'discussions' with our fiance or spouses because no doubt this process along with life in general is difficult. BUT WE CHOSE TO GO THIS ROUTE!

Be still Baris, and be kind to your wife.

KD,

Are the police documents over 1 year and expired? If so, yes, you have to get updated originals (get 3 copies original this time for: You, for Embassy and for NVC) in case they want only those and be sure to make copies. Also, don't forget to update your Turkish Passport so it's good for one year past the date of approval. Ask Nihal what other originals need to be sent in. She will know as she is a IR-1/CR-1 too. KD --- Check on this with Ankara by email and fone call OK?

http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Turkey&cty=Ankara I read in another country portal where the Embassy lost a few original documents! Luckily, this couple were very prepared and had 2 extra originals of each required document. I thought that very clever because with all the files passing through there, who knows what could be lost.

For us, because Kadir is working abroad beyond 6 mos --- he will have to get police report from the country he is in now; usaf base iraq. So we have a different situation. Also, his passport will expire this year in Sept, so we will have to renew it for another year when he gets home to Adana. Kadir will be carrying his copy of our entire file, plus some extra originals and copies of translation. Getting them ready here while he is on base is difficult for me and time consuming. Asking him to get his medical records and police reports from base is not easy to explain either. So we have our work cut out for us also. We have time though, as we are waiting for the NOA2 which graces us with 5+ mos to figure out what [papers] we must produce for the interview (K1 visa -- fiance).

Where are you staying now? Are you close to Ankara? It sounds like you're ready!

Mari

Mari,

we are in different situation but some ways the same about our paper process

I am at istanbul yes it just takes 5 hours to go to the ankara with the bus.

Police certificate expire date is 6 months in turkey.

My passport was for 3 years but now just left 1 year and half so its pretty enough for now.

We already sent all orginal documents to the NVC so i just have copies but as we mention there is an expire dates about papers we sent to the NVC so the embassy does not request those documents from me..but just in case i want to have those papers with me what if they asking i dont want to be lost when they asking those papers from me..I want to be prepared.

yes i m almost done prepared. So i m ready i m just keep praying to be with my wife soon.I need her with me so bad

I hope everything will be going well in ur journey too

You really have waited a very long time (16 mos!), and your documents seems to be in order. Can you get updated originals before your April 4th interview in Ankara? Also, will you have to have those translated too? Smart of you to be prepared vs. not have the info. One thing is to be sure your marriage is registered in TR and the US. I think we already talked about that in an earlier post.

Keep praying (we are also praying along side you and this AmeriTurk thread).

I got a letter today from the USCIS confirming that they changed my address! Good because I was really scared they'd send our papers to the house we just moved from (which means they would be lost). Now to make copies for our file. LOTS OF PAPERWORK! lol
