LOL Baris!!!!!!!!!

Yes, this is why when I came home from Adana ... basically back from all over Turkey, I could NOT eat American processed foods anymore! It's not the same!!! I had to learn when I was with Kadir's Anne and sisters. Even his Auntie Hanim... I don't care too much for lahmacun because I was overfed this thing. If I had one today, it would be TOO SOON for me! LOL Imagine that? It's been since last September I ate lahmacun and today, I am still full from this thing! Anyway, here in San Francisco, I have very close friends to me who are also Turkish. In fact, they are family to me and Kadir. They own a Turkish restaurant!!! So guess where I go eat when I really want authentic?

I also cook more Turkish foods than anything else. I buy all my ingredients in a Middle Eastern market; there are several in your area, so you just need to tell your wife I said, "Get with the program, your husband is hungry!" And let her know that Flip food is not the norm for a Turkish man too! LOL. I'm wondering why she didn't study and figure out where to buy your foods prior to your arrival???? She had to know you'd miss it. Even Americans miss it after they leave Turkey.

Baris, here is a list of Turkish stores in your area:

Los Angeles area

  • Ari's Market - 10515 McFadden Ave. #101-104 Garden Grove, CA.- (714) 531-2747

  • Farmers Ranch Market - 7111 N. Sepulveda Blvd. Van Nuys, CA - (818) 781-7111

  • Hamle Supermarket - 9895 Warner Ave. Ste A&B Fountain Valley, CA - (714) 378-0588

  • Produce Plaza - 18525 Sherman Way, Reseda, CA - (818) 996-4555

  • Troy International - 1609-F East McFadden Ave. Santa Ana, CA - (714) 541-5100

Valley Produce - 18345 Vanowen St. Reseda, CA - (818) 609-1955

I am originally from "THE OC" [ Orange County]. So I find the shopping better such as stores above: Ari's, Troy Int'l & Hamle's Supermarket. Neither of them are that far for your wife to drive!

But here is another site you can get the information for even more stores!!!

http://www.ocweekly.com/restaurants/search/?cuisine=Middle%20Eastern

Take care and when Kadir is here, we will be down in The OC area to see some of my family. We'll have to see about meeting you out there.

Mariye Yenge

PS: I will have Kadir bring you Cay, although, you can get it here (Authentic Turkish Cay), but your wife has to take you to some Middle Easter Store! TELL HER TO BRING YOU TO ONE. And, Lipton is a ####### kind of tea/cay; it's nothing like a fine Turkish cay! Why doesn't your wife know this???

I'm finished with file and now double checking everything 3 or 4 times! I am glad I got his Army info. straightened out and completely had to redo DS-157 ... it's a good thing! Because I had made a typo mistake on years he was in 2 different countries. Basically, it looked like he was in 2 countries at same time! Not Good, I corrected that. Other than that, I keep thinking of things to add or take out and so I'm going to leave this thing alone until I am rested up and can see straight.

Baris, glad you're finding your way around. Did you find your Cay?

Yesterday, I sent K's completed file to his parents house!!! I feel better that it's on its way to Turkey now.

However, Kadir is still not back in Adana! His family and I are just waiting to know when he is leaving the base!
