HI, im married to a US citizen and from Canada. I have just checked on the uscis website that my EAD and travel permit has been approved and will be in the mail in 30 days. I wanted to know after i get the EAD card would i be able to work or do i have to apply for my SSN and wait another few weeks to work? Does it normally take about 30 days for the card to be mailed out?

I have filed for AOS and concurrently applied for both of these just some background information.

Thank you

When you get your EAD card you will need to get your SSN while you wait for your SSN you can start applying and looking for work.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

I am a Citizen of the United States of America. 04/16/13

It took 8 days from approval for us to have the card in hand.

You need a SSN to work but you don't need before you start job hunting. I'm pretty sure you can be hired w/o a SSN but must produce one within 30 days or something and before you can be paid.
