Hello all, I am about to fill out the i-485 for my dad and noticed some discrepancies in his foreign documentation. Specifically his birth certificate says he was born in countrya and his marriage certificate says he was born in countryb. What is more strange is is i-94 that he came in with says he is a citizen of countryc. Can anyone provide any recommendations I should take before filing the i-485, I am thinking the birth certificate should override

all the other discrepancies? Should draft a note or a document from my dad clearing all this mixed up info?

Thanks

By all accounts, you'd have no control over what was written on your Dad's I-94, however, you can have his passport amended and his marriage certificate amended. You may want to look into how that can be done and how long it would take. Not sure if USCIS will accept an affidavit of discrepancy in his case or not...

I can't answer that, unfortunately...I have no idea how your father's home country processes such corrections on primary/base documents.

Thanks marriedtomrg, is this something that I lawyer would need to do our could I just send them the copies of the birth and marriage and USCIS would do the ammending?

The USCIS will not update your father's national information. Where is he from and what country is listed as a, b and c? There'll probably be someone here who will know more specifics for you...
