We got an RFE last week saying I'd not signed the I-864. They included a blank signature page for me to sign and return. Problem is, I've got copies to prove otherwise. I DID sign the I-864. Why would they say I haven't? Could they have lost more of our paperwork AGAIN?

On top of the other problems we've had since he got here and they lost his file/screwed his status up in the system, my mail carrier decided to take it upon himself to start returning all of our mail. We didn't realize it was happening until my grandparents told us the card they'd sent for our wedding gift came back to them. It only went on for 2 weeks (I don't get mail everyday, so I hadn't been too concerned) but during that time, his biometrics appointment letter was returned. They apparently got that back on the same day they sent out the RFE letter. I had to call and beg and they said that since his biometrics appointment was scheduled for less than a week away from the day I called in (last Monday, our appointment is TODAY) that they'd fax us a copy of the letter.

The faxed copy has a big stamp on it saying "This is not an original document. Acceptance of this courtesy copy is at the discretion of the receiving office." I was told by the USCIS misinformation line that they should let us in with it, that they've not had many calls saying they were rejected, so they assume they'll let us in. I hope so. If not, I'm going to be even more angry. There are too many gubmint agencies at work here, and none of them will get their jobs done right it seems. From the CBP to the USCIS to the DOS to the USPS we've had nothing but problems for the past few months.

People have had the ink problem before, where they signed in black pen and they got an RFE saying its not a real signature, iv seen a few threads about that on VJ before. Just sign it in blue ink. If you did originally sign in blue ink well then the people you have working on your case must be crazy!

I always sign in blue ink. I'm a notary, so I want to know my signature is an original. I'm also ####### retentive about paperwork, so that's what is making me so crazy about this one. I get the feeling they've screwed up again and are sending the RFE out just to keep us waiting longer and make it look like it's our fault.

OMG, that's a classic! lol

Reading your post just reminded me that the mail carrier put a ? on the front of some mail from my English bank, that's still in my former name. Since I wasn't getting any mail to speak of at my in-laws house, I hadn't filed a change of address form for my daughter or me. My hubby did, and has occasionally received some mail for his Dad (they share the same first initial, but different name) It's a total joke, since we still get mail for at least 4 previous residents but they're querying my daughter's name/ my former one? Don't get it.

Needless to say, it'll be resolved by putting a label on with both names. Who wants a perplexed postie?! lol

Timeline Summary:

K-1/K-2 NOA1 - POE: 9 February - 9 July 2010

Married: 17 July 2010

AOS mailed - Interview : 22 November 2010 - 10 March 2011

ROC mailed - approved: 14 February - 18 June 2013

Citizenship mailed - ceremony: 9 February - 7 June 2017

Ours was putting " ? " on my mail too when I first moved in with my husband ( just before we got married ) I put my name and last name on it, that stopped the ?s on them. Then after we married the post person started putting " ? " on the mail that came in my married name LOL so we have to have my maiden and married name on our post box.
