Hey guys I just wanted to share my experience today. Thank goodness my visa was approved but it was close! I admit that for a second we had some doubts. First of all we are not the typical k1 couple because we are both only 23! We had both recently graduated (I graduated 2008 and my fiance graduated May 2010) We both met in China since we were both on scholarships to learn Chinese there, we fell in love and he petitioned me as soon as he got back to the US. Since he is a fresh grad, he doesn't have any assets, no income tax returns or w2 yet, but he does have a decent job with the US ARMY (granted its a modest pay for a fresh grad). Because of this, the consulate asked my fiance how he intends to support me (he was present) Good thing I also have a good profession as a speech pathologist with work experience in China and the Philippines as well so they took this into consideration and approved us!!!! Ahhhh it was so scary! We were not asked for any evidences or proof (I guess being classmates was enough), they did not look at pictures, emails, engagement ring, nothing! It also helped that I have been to the US 10 times before and I still have a valid tourist visa. It was scary but to others who are still about to do it, AS LONG AS YOU BRING ALL YOUR DOCUMENTS YOU WILL BE OKAY. :) Goodluck and God Bless to all! Merry Christmas!

By the way I got there at 6:00am for my 6:45 appointment and we were done around 10am, not bad at all! I was able to see about 5 other k1 applicants and as far as I knew we all got approved! :)

I just wanted to ask if anyone had good links for the AOS, I want to educate myself and plan for it already! Thanks!!

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

Thank you, VJ! smile.png

She needs to get her CFO sticker and complete the guidance an counseling requirement. Best if she can get it done through St. Mary's (SMEF-COW), it would be a breeze.
