I'm just not into that kind of language if we're going to talk about policy. Do you want to talk about taxes? health care? the Constitution? Guns? the role of government in society? Iraq and Afghanistan? Fine. I'm game. But calling our President nasty names, or referring to the opposite party with a nasty name does not serve your argument one bit. Hint: it weakens and blunts the force of your argument since the other side is simply going to dismiss it out of hand when they see the crude insults. I've seen you argue some interesting positions on the issues - my suggestion would be stick to that, and leave the name calling behind. But, of course, do as you wish.

In politics there has been on the thread the use of way more vitriol than the tame examples you cited. It has been going on a long time here and nothing was ever done when there was no debate about any issue. Of course now that the Socialists have gotten power then when they are having done unto them the same vitriol it is now wrong to do the same. This is what is known as a double standard in case you didn't know.

I have debated and my views are well known what I think about any subject. If you haven't read them then too bad. I have debated everything that you mentioned and way more. If as you said once before that you go on when I post them because I use the Socialist label then too bad. I am used to Socialists to feel miffed about the label and could care less. This is a immigration forum overall and the political threads and religious threads are relegated to sub forums. There are way more forums that do cater and are about the subjects at hand. I am even a moderator at one and a former moderator at another for many years. Trust me these sub forums are no place to get into any substantive issues. No Earth shattering impacts are going to come out of the SUB forums. It is here for us to vent a tad more without the personal attacks is all. The upper forums are what is important here and we all go into them to help if at all possible as they have helped us in the past. The only probs I have seen are when some who get annoyed in the sub forum at someone then can't leave it there and bring the vitriol into the upper forum and spew it out there at the one they hate. The upper forums barely know about the sub forums and are then seeing at what looks like an unprovoked attack. This should be hit by mods hard and quick. Leave the vitriol in Sub and keep as civil as possible in the Upper forums.

Over all I have seen the mods do an excellent job here as I have been a member and even a mod at many sites and forums and the disparate personalties on this site have to be the toughest to mod. I am surprised they have made so little from what I have seen anyway mistakes. Over all I give them a A-.

Never said or even think he is a Muslim and/or trying to kill America. I think his heart is in the right place and maybe he was brought up as a Socialist and feel he is doing what needs to be done. I even like the guy even though I think he is a moron. He is just terrible President and by the time it is over possible the worst President ever but he still can be better than Carter I think at the very least.

I'm perfectly aware of the purpose of the upper forums. And while this topic was posted under the Philippines sub-forum, since it is not related to immigration--I'd classify this as OT.

My comment was not directed towards this particular OP or thread. It's a general comment towards those who haven't figured out how to use the interwebz yet. This is a free immigration advice thread, the mods are not paid to do their job, neither are the members for their comments.

To reduce blood pressure and stress in the future, it is, perhaps, best, to glean whatever useful information one can find and then ignore the less useful instead of complaining about 'unfair, mean, rude, racist' members or mods, every so often. I often wonder how these people survive in the real world if they are this likely to pop a vein over something an annonymous poster said on an internet forum.

Frankly, as far as I am concerned, I think VJ is one of the more strictly moderated, "friendlier" forums I've been on.

Regarding the 'take it or leave it' comment--didn't you notice? The OP made a brave declaration that he was going to 'leave' VJ once his journey was over. That is, once he has 'taken' all he can. If one is paying for the service, then I can understand feeling entitled to polite customer service. But when one is not, the internet, in its entirety, is pretty much 'take it or leave it.' IMO, of course.

I'm no fan of the mods, but to draw a conclusion that the mods 'support 15 people dying' is completely absurd.

However, I will say, I do believe this constant topic can be addressed finally by not being so damned private with 'administrative action'....I don't feel invising posts and being all hush hush is the way to go...leave whatever offending material out there.....don't clean up behind a person...let it be in their post history for everyone to see what an azzhole (s)he is. Then address it in the thread.

I don't know. People register for the site after they've decided (through whatever process they felt appropriate) that the site is one that meets their needs. Leaving clearly provocative content up with a mod disclaimer a few pages down-thread would certainly tell you and I and those of us who have been here a while who the azzhole is, but chances are we already know who the azzhole is. I'm not sure what message leaving that content up sends to the new user or the user who hasn't even registered yet.

Yes, it is quite absurd to draw that conclussion. However, do you find it absurd to assume that the moderators condone racism? Here is the situation that I found myself in. I was reporting 2 users blatant racist rantings (no, not BY) for a couple of weeks. No suspensions, no warnings, just a friendly PM from a moderator asking me to be more selective in what I report. Seeing how many times I have been suspended in the past (6 now), I know that they aren't ambivalent towards enforcing the TOS. So I ask, what impression would that leave on you?

For the record, I don't think any of the moderators are racist. But it is infuriating to see how much racism is allowed in the politics & religion forum. Not enforcing the TOS area concerning racism because there is no actual slur or epithet used is pathetic.
