Ok, so I have my US Permanent Residence, I plan on bringing all the forms from the US government and 1 copy in case needed when crossing the border.

The only problem I see is getting back to Canada Tuesday to see my family (I am Canadian) Reason I think it will be an issue is because since I haven't been able to leave the US till a month ago, I couldn't change my passport to my MARRIED NAME!

My father bought us our tickets in my married name! We fly Tuesday! I plan on bringing a few certified copies of our marriage certificate and I have my State License ...

Do you think we'll have any problems w/ the Canadian government?

A while back I talked to the airline company and they said I can board the flights w/ my PERM RES card...but still need my passport to go through customs in Toronto, Ontario!

HELP PLEASE!!!

Just bring your marriage certificate.

You are a Canadian citizen and will not be refused entry into Canada. I travel all the time with my Canadian passport in my former name. The only difference is that I ensure all my tickets are purchased in my passport name. Since the airline has told you you are fine with your GC (since the GC and passport back each other up), you should be okay. Get there early just in case the agent makes you change the ticket name, though.

See that's the thing...my dad bought the tickets under my married name....my GC has my married name....but my Canadian passport DOES NOT! I do have my marriage certificate I'm bringing along w/ my State license in my married name......

I'm confused. You said that's not the problem because the airline said you could use your GC as proof. The ticket in the married name at Customs & Immigration in Toronto will not come into play.... only your passport.

Yws, when I called United Airlines, they told me I can board the plane w/ my GC.......the only reason I'd need my passport is to get through Canadian customs.....

but my passport is in my madien name and everything else is in my married name including the tickets.....so to prove my name change (since my passport doesn't have my married name)....is just having a marriage certificate enough to prove it?

Thanks everyone else for your answers!

You don't need to prove a name change at Canadian Customs. Period. You just present them with your passport. It is still your legal name. They won't want to see your marriage certificate. They may ask to see your GC, though, to prove residency. I've been asked twice now. My GC is in my married name. My passport is in my former name. The GC and the passport back each other up..... all the information is displayed when they swipe it. I would be more concerned with getting on the plane than with getting through Customs.

But how is my madien name legal in my passport when it's not updated?

Because your maiden name will always still be a legal name of yours.
