So does this mean Matthew is off the wall of shame??? Because his shame is my shame lol!

The wall of shame exists mostly in my mind. I felt ashamed that Nigeria wasnt represented because my baby was being hardheaded. So yes,Matthew (and you by proxy) are off the list.lol

You guys seem to have all the details! We don't even have a date yet! lol I've been trying to get Emilio to get motivated to talk to some places about having the reception there but he's a procrastinator (I hate to stereotype my lovely fiance, but he DEFINITELY lives on Mexican time.) I need him to go with me though because if I go by myself I'll get "gringa prices".. I know that the amounts will be significantly lower if Emilio is the one to ask. grr

The Henna cake sounds like such a cool idea I bet it's going to be beautiful.. I'm wondering how we're going to do a cake.. we live on an island and the only way to get to it is by boat.. there aren't any fancy bakers on the island so we'll have to get one made in Cancun but I wonder how it will survive the ferry ride! lol

How do I get into all of these conversations!!! HEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY everyone!!! Just saw a Canadian got their NOA2!! Congrats!! Hi people!! Hope everyone is having a great Wednesday!!!

Its definitely great to see a Canadian with an NOA2, even though we're stuck in Vermont and not speedy California. Can't wait to hear how their journey through the Canadian half goes.

I think everyone should watch America's Next Top Model next week, the remaining girls are going to MOROCCO! I don't know much about that area so I'll be interested to see more about how one of our own Decemberite couples lives!

I was reading some comments and I think me and my Fiance forgot to submit a signed intent to marry. :bonk: I guess it's because we have kids together and we totally forgot that we need those things,

What should the letter of intent to marry should we write? :help:

Wow, I had no idea! How exciting! :)

(Then again, I have TOTALLY gone on youtube and watched every season of the Amazing Race that went to Morocco and giggled as I scream at my computer "OMG, I've been there! Wait, that car drive takes 12 hours and they show it in 1.5 minutes of air time? Haha, girrrrl, don't get out of the car around a pack of boys at 2 am!")

Also, if you've seen Sex and the City II, it was filmed in Morocco. I had a group of students (I lead academic/cultural programs for US University students here) who I was trying to take to see an old palace, but they had blocked it off for filming. Next year, I watch the film and see that the girls are shoe-shopping right at the market where they blocked the road! Crazy.

I love Morocco. As much as I'm ready to go home with my man and start a life with him there, I've been here 4 years, love it, and if, lla y str (God forbid!) something happens with the visa process, it would be okay to live here another year, get married, and re-file.

I pretty much used this verbatim. :)

Also, my fiance and I sent two of them, one from him, and one from me, but I've heard you can both use and sign the same one.

Are you talking about for the I-129, or for the interview?

I'm thinking of writing a detailed letter to the CO for the interview, separately from the letter of intent. It will be total cheesefest, but describing our relationship, why we work, how we work, why I love him, etc. I want to share why he makes me a better person, how things like two separate religions work for us, how we keep in touch over the distance, etc. Do y'all think this is a good idea, or overkill?

Super duper awesome, fantastic and uplifting!! Congratulations!!!!

@Mari- you're hilarious with the deals! I love it... I need about 6-8 lanterns!! I wanted small and medium sized... I'll check the link today :)

@Kristin- Thanks sweetie!! If Mari's link turns out to be a bust (sorry M!) I'll definitely be all over $3 lanterns... although shipping would suck. haha.

@Nikolacolada- "gringa prices" I love it!! I try to fake my spanglish with a good accent so I don't get those...but in the end when they ask if I was born in the US or Mexico... I get the look of death and the gringa price. haha.. Instead of cake you can do something else that might hold up better on that horrible ferry ride!! What about cookies (frosted with your logo) or cake pops??? They are all the rage in the wedding world and you could bring them with you from the US, freeze them or refrigerate until the wedding...and they should hold up well. You can probably reserach what bakeries can do in Cancun and see if there is a cake alternative.

OK so I realized my "henna cake" idea might have been misinterpreted.. I was thinking of getting a cake that has mhendi designs on it... not actual henna...since I don't think henna would taste good. haha... check the link if you're intereseted...Henna inspired cake

I am having my friend design our own "henna inspired" logo so that will be on the cake... I'm also thinking of doing the fake cake thing.. basically it saves you money, they decorate fake cakes with fondant and have one layer for cutting. the real cake that is served is in the kitchen and is a sheet cake. This supposed to be cheaper since some venues charge a cake cutting fee due to the tedious task of taking apart a wedding cake. Just a small tip.

Have a great day guys!!

We were thinking cupcakes but I actually really like the cookie idea, I think that's really cute!

I always like reading these topics because it reminds me that there is another person in this process with me and he might have different feelings about all of this than I do. Of course he wants to go to the U.S. but I think mostly because I want to go back to the U.S. He's excited but he's also leaving behind his family and everything he's ever known.

It's nice to be reminded once in a while that I need to think about his transition and how he feels about everything too. I think I'm lucky that I can identify with him a little bit on this because I moved to Mexico for him in the beginning, so I know what it's like to leave it all behind. Thank you for posting this :)

Wow the Thread is jumpin' this morning... always nice to wake up to you Decemberites! lol I like this " @ " stuff...

OK, so I'll use it now.

@Kristen: Wait, Kristen...... you live in Morocco? Sheesh, lol, you bring the lamps! LOL LOL pennies on the dollar! ha ha No wonder you said you could get those for $3 bucks! You do not come home without bringing me couscous! How in the world did you end up on that side of the world?

@NEKO: CONGRATULATION on the Interview Approval!!! Fabulous news there! Please do not lose your Decemberite Family and follow us [when we move] to the Decemberite Family Digs: AOS and Beyond Thread...we'd love to hear how your interview went and if you would post that here it would be super helpful. Where will your POE be? If it's San Francisco, let me know!!!!

@Nicolacolada: (that is a long azzzzz ID and I never do it right when I type it lol). How kewl is that you're going to do cupcakes & the cookie idea both!! Where does one find designs for wedding cupcakes as all I've seen on the net were tiers of them. Will your wedding be huge (like the whole village), or a small one? I was rofl when I saw "gringa prices" ... bc when K and I were in Istanbul at the Grand Bazaar all the tourista books say, "bargain with the vendors." OMG everytime I did, I barely got a few bucks off and then Kadir would just step up and stand next to me and next thing you know? Sales guy would say, "OK OK... lady I'm give you good price because of THIS GENTLEMAN HERE." ** Little secret he told me? They raise the price when they see a 'yabanci' (foreigner) coming by at least 50% because they know the guides say to bargain...** LOL So go with a local. BTW, I get the same 'local' deals in Hawaii, until I open my mouth and I do not have pidgin accent because they say it's been refined by too many 'mainlanders" ..... lol go figure.

@Wendles: LOL ... if my little latterns are a 'bust'... then Kristen has to send them here! ..... <mumbling under breath> .... a bust.... hmph! LOL  Where is your wedding going to be anyhow? LA, California right? OK there is a warehouse that your mom or sissy's can go to if it's closeby and I bet you, if we called there first you could go and pick up directly (save some $$ on S&H). I will research and get back to you on that.

@Lee the Rex character: When are you and JennieLee going to her Gram's house in SF? Most certainly if you two are here we can meet up!

@Dizzy: please please please please do the Timeline for forever & beyond? lol you're an expert and make it sexy pretty all the time (we'll you and your groom too). Diz you know we all love you big bunches sistah!

@Lise: thanks for the happy link! How's the recipe book comin' along?

@ManilaToSeattle: What is your normal name so we don't have to say M2S all the time? If you send in your letter of Intent then be sure to send in the originals. I signed ours in blue ink so it was clear it wasn't a copy, but it doesn't matter the ink colour so long as it is original statements. I think Kristen gave you the link for a template. We sent in one paper both signatures; I had him sign FIVE originals of every document that had to go in as original copy or required his signature for whatever reason (for the just in case there was some error and he was gone to Iraq --- no mail system there. Anyway, I'd have blank copy with his sig on it ready to go).

OK... love you Decemberites!!

Thank you for the info! it's for the I-129.

I think it should be okay to bring a detailed written letter for the interview. Being in love can make anybody a cheesefest ever! (L)
