Hi everyone we just got our NOA2 TODAY! so excited! can't wait to share with your guys! Hope all of your guys will get it tomorrow!

Woo-hoo!!! Congrats, the nail-biting part of it is over and time for the second round of paperwork but at least it moves much faster... well I think it does! Hey December family. I'm so excited that everyone is starting to receive their NOA2s! I thought I would come to the group with my question, because we are, after all, a family... Right? lol Another fun fact... If you choose to help me, it may mean less time waiting for you all!

Welp... My fiance and I have decided to get married in Germany. It has been a rough journey through this K1 process and for so many reasons we have decided that living in Germany for a couple years before we settle down in the United States will be the best option for our family. If only we had realized this sooner!

So now my question is this... What process do we have to go through to cancel our petition? We also wonder if it will hurt our chances of refiling when we are ready to come back. :-/

Thank you December filers for helping us through this process and for giving me something to read to keep this miserable process off my mind! You are all so strong! I hope the best for each and every one of you!

I will be with my fiance in two weeks, now... and I wish you all are holding your fiances close soon, as well.

Oh wow! OK I have read on VJ that some couples do change their minds and go IR-1/CR-1 (I-130) route then marry overseas, after they have submitted their K-1's but withdrew them prior to.

Two things: I'm wondering how close you are to the NOA2 from this April date. If you do withdraw the Petition, marry and then file for the I-130, you'll start the clock over again through the VJ process brand new. The time difference would be something to consider.

However, If you withdraw the K1 then marry in Germany, since he'll live there with you --- after the USC is a resident for 6 mos, then you can file Direct Consulate Filing *(DCF) *see this write up from VJ DCF Frankfurt.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/272344-dcf-experience-in-frankfurt-germany/

I am thinking since you'll be there together, this time there won't be the same 'waiting pains' with the exception of when you two will return to the USA. How does one calculate the time on that? Marry, then 6 mos residence for USC, now file new packet to Consulate... wait for interview and approval. I'd be researching how long that wait time is from day you hit 6 mos if you are only planning to stay in Germany for 2 years. Then, you can gage your application plans out better.

I can't speak to your question if this will hurt you in the future; people change their minds all the time. So unless you're filing for 9 different men  ... I guess you should be fine. But here you go with another VJ link from a couple who had a current K-129F & decided to marry and live in Europe (live in UK and his Beneficiary is from Germany). http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/293071-i-129f-filed-rejection-notice-given-two-weeks-later-decided-to-scrap-usa-plans-for-now-and-live-in-uk-next-few-years-instead/ On that thread there might be more answers to your question.

I am happy you came to this Thread to say hello and update us!

With love,

Mari

Okay friends here our signature FILIPINO food from the Philippines!

Pork / Chicken Adobo Recipe

Estimated cooking time: 50 minutes. Adobo is the most popular Filipino dish enjoyed by all classes. Adobo is typically served with steamed white rice.

Adobo Ingredients:

1/2 kilo pork cut in cubes + 1/2 kilo chicken, cut into pieces or

choice of either 1 kilo of pork or 1 kilo of chicken

1 head garlic, minced

1/2 yellow onion, diced

1/2 cup soy sauce

1 cup vinegar

2 cups of water

1 teaspoon paprika

5 laurel leaves (bay leaves)

4 tablespoons of cooking oil or olive oil

2 tablespoons cornstarch

Salt and pepper to taste

3 tablespoons water

Adobo Cooking Instructions:

In a big sauce pan or wok, heat 2 tablespoons of oil then sauté the minced garlic and onions.

Add the pork and chicken to the pan. Add 2 cups of water, 1/4 cup of soy sauce, vinegar, paprika and the bay leaves. Bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes or when meat is tender.

Remove the pork and chicken from the sauce pan and on another pan, heat cooking oil and brown the pork and chicken for a few minutes.

Mix the browned pork and chicken back to the sauce and add cornstarch dissolved in water to thicken.

Add salt and/or pepper if desired

Bring to a boil then simmer for an additional 5 minutes.

Serve hot with the adobo gravy and rice.

Much love,

Nica

Lise the check you need isn't the same as the one you would get to work with the vulnerable population. The one you need takes about 15 minutes, cost $40...and basically they just search the RCMP database to see if you have a record, check the yes or no box and then stamp it with their seal. From there if something is suspicious, you'll have to do the one with fingerprinting.

I have had two other police checks done for volunteering purposes at our local police station, there is up to a 3 week waiting period for your copy and the cost is $45.00; the $60.00 cost is for a same day service through a certified person who works with, not for the RCMP. I will get one done when I receive my N02, since it is good for 1 year I want that year to be within the time frame of applying for AOS. Given the time frame from receiving an appointment in Montreal I probably have time to go through the city.

Have a nice day, I am hoping for no more snow!

Lise

Whoo hoo!!! Congratulations on your new NOA2s! :)

PS- does anyone else read all the "filers" as "fliers?" I certainly do and I think of us as the "December fliers family." Heh. It's more fun-sounding than filers anyway. We're flying around to be with our partners; flying through this crazy journey together...

Casablanca consulate is hosting an online visa Q+A in half an hour. Should be interesting. I only have a few questions...

AND... today my fiance is coming over to make our "visa album." It sounds so terrible to do this, but I'm actually excited about it. We're printing out about 50 pics and going to put them in order with plane tickets, itineraries, receipts, etc., to sort of "detail our journey together." I wish I were artsier. At first, I was annoyed to have to do this, but now I actually think it will be fun and kind of a beautiful thing to have. Yay for our "visa album date." :):P

(yes, I am lucky to still be over here with him, I know. We're back to LDR in a few days :( )

May we be added to the list? :)

of course :)

I need you to update your Timeline on VisaJourney (you can do this from your profile). Tell us what Service Center your I-129F was routed to (CSC or VSC) and make sure we know your NOA1 date.
