HEADS UP fellow Canadians,

I almost missed this post in the Canada Portal:

Getting Police Certificates in Ontario Read this if you'll be needing one soon

Posted 29 March 2011 - 09:30 PM by JlovesA

Just a little insider info...the RCMP in Ontario will no longer be providing police certificates to the public for any reason. It is possible you may find a detachment still doing them, but for those of you who will be needing one soon, I suggest just going straight to the OPP or municipality police.

Hope this helps anyone needing a police certificate soon.

Our RCMP office used to provide police checks within a day; guess I best get my butt down to the local police department...I am pretty sure it is a 3 week wait!

Okay, I just called the # I had to get a RCMP clearance, apparently this office is contracted by the RCMP and are still up and running. So, I can go in for $60 and have the police clearance within 1 day for $45.00 and a 3-6 week wait go to the local police department. So I would suggest that everyone check with thier RCMP detachment before assuming they no longer do them.

Sorry if I confused everyone, I will also post my findings on the original posting from JlovesA.

I am also a bit confused, do we pay the $450 filing fee before or when we are at the embassy (Montreal)?

Lise...I really am trying to be positive but this whole immigration thing can drive a sane person crazy :bonk:

nice idea mari! i like this little decemberite family feel in this thread (don't say that with a mouth full!)

i wish i could help add to the recipe side of things with a british or english recipe for you all but unfortunately, cooking is not my forté! reilly refers to the way i make a cup of tea as 'alchemy' though so maybe I could aid with that! lol

any beneficiaries starting the major spring clean out in preparation for packing up and going? i've been in the mood this week.. it's getting a bit silly this evening though as i'm getting sentimental over things i had forgotten i had laying about! getting things together to have a big boot sale now the weather's on the up, but just spent 10 minutes looking lovingly/despairingly at a polaroid camera i've had for 5 years and used one lot of film in! quite proud though, removed 4 (yes 4!) black bags full of clothes out of my wardrobe! spring cleaning time ladies and gents! x

I'm a bit lucky - had to do a major clear-out in 2009 when I moved back to Somerset from the Isle of Man, so that was a good start. Parents and brother are buying my bedroom furniture, tools and electrical goods apart from the computers smile.gif

December FITNESS CHALLENGE gang!!!

A GIFT From Mr. Loxy: https://www.mapmyfit.../register/easy/

Track your fitness plan!!!!! This is wonderful!!!

Sign up! :)

Oh nice! Thank you to Mr and Mrs Loxy!

I did "Power Flow" yoga last night and it kicked my butt! How in the world do some of those people get into human knots... I do not know. It was a 85 degree room and I was sweating with all the poses (asanas); I am really enjoying this. I wish I started practicing long time ago as I would be a heck of a lot more flexible and fit. For now, I'm happy "learning with a child-like attitude" and my goal is very simple; breathe and learn correct asanas. Anything that comes after that for me, is the bigger picture of what I 'thought' I was going to yoga for (toning, strengthening my shoulder, peace, etc). Remember, it started as a way to tone up for our wedding... it was to incorporate your Fitness Challenge more into my life, taking it seriously but not just for the wedding... intellectually, I know it's for a lifestyle! Something I forgot about since last October!!! When the rains came and weather changed, I took a little break from walk/hiking daily and I could tell how sluggish I was getting. So I really owe you a BIG THANK YOU DIZZY GIRL, because you are a movtivating leader among us here in the Decemberite Family!

I love you sistah!!!

Mari

Hey! I've never posted on here before, so I figured I'd introduce myself. :)

I'm also a December filer, and I was wondering what happens once my I-129f gets approved.

What papers should I send to him. Once he's here, what forms should I file after we've gotten married?

If anyone could give me a guide from i129f approval until we can live a normal (meaning not having to file anything in order to be together) life, that would be great.

Welcome Ashley & Meinard to the December 2010 K1' Thread!

Looking at your timeline, although you sent in your documents in Dec, it looks as though you are actually a January 2011 filer since your NOA1 date (january 3), is the date the uscis entered you in their system. But that being said, you're welcome to hang with us here and be an honorary Decemberite! In fact, we do have a couple filers from last September & January which we love bunches. Ashley, we have a great Thread Map which will help you navigate around here. And if you look at the contents, you'll find what you need to help you get started on the documents and have them ready for when you receive the NOA2. I think that might be what you were asking about. The last Thread Map update is on page 68, post #1010.

Enjoy!

Christine, I know you are anxious about Montreal so I copied a post I read this morning from LuvIllinois: "I just got my packet 4 and I am officially scheduled for July 12! There were a lot of openings in April but that is just too soon for us. Then there was nothing between that and July so here I am! Excited :-D" I can say that if I got my notice today I would book in April!!! I so want to get this show on the road!!!!

Have a great day everyone! (I am still waiting for granddaughter #4 to be born...due date was yesterday!)

Lise

Oh thank you Lise! I do feel much better seeing that! I hope your granddaughter has arrived, or is at least well on her way, by now.

Having a fun night with our neighbours and two of my bridesmaids/my bffs tonight to take my mind off things. party!

Dear Decemerite Family:

I have been reviewing all 71 pages (so far) of our posts! WOW WEE! That is a lot!!

I was quite surprised when Militarygf said she didn't know what to do after they got their NOA2 and this is what planted the seed for this idea. Anyway, since we are coming closer to the uscis goal time of 5-6 mos, I would like to submit to you this:

"Back in the day, when I was in Sorority".... we had a thing called "little sister" and the Frats guys had a 'little bro'. Now, without us getting too mushy mushy (even if we are a fun-loving, fondlerful BIG fam), I woulld like to submit to some of the more active Decemberites to check in with some of our Decemberite family who we haven't seen in a while. Let this be a positive opportunity to let them know they are thought about. Afterall, isn't it nice to get a surprise HELLO especially when it could come on a day that seems lonely without our Sweetheart, or we're discouraged from the waiting pains? So will you help me with this Decemberites?

May I suggest to find a family member we haven't seen from the list below, find their post on this thread (so they can reply directly back to your post), give a hello and encourage them. For example: NOA2' progress, wedding stuff, fitness challenge, our cookbook, etc. Wouldn't it be nice if we saw this thread with APPROVED APPROVED APPROVED? I think we can do it together!

So here are some of the 37 Decemberites we haven't really seen in a while: (Yellow we sent a H&F; Teal we heard from!)

Don & Julie, JPK+CAK, Mattb05, Adi+Pim, Vancedan, WMark+Carol, Stargazer, James_And_JoAnne, I+H, Soontobe, OnTheRoadAgain, DonLorenzo, BobbyA, Setherwyn, PreciousOne, AcrossTheMiles, Palladin, Mikey&Cathy, Linha87, Jani&Graham, Yllen, Dahnlor, W+M, ChrisG, Gina&Dan, Crazy_for_Iza, Tim/Mav, abbieg1K, Paul&Tonieta, Cast.linda, Neko, SammyD, MyWenie, LenaAndIgor, David92592, Tsuwa

Here are some of the more active posters who I will give a term of endearment, The "Hearts & Fondles" Team! aka: H&F's (pink are those that sent H&F's -- Thank you!)

Dizzylox, lise+michael, WendieAndSam, Bec_Dipu, M+P, KiwiBird, KiwiJen, SwissMiss2, DerekAndCallie, Kiria&Daniel, Nikolacolada, Christine+Blake, Sandl2011, USCMAviator, Rallybug, Piefre, Carrie_a, Ferincor, Kristen_Maroc, Marcia&Danny, ManilatoSeattle, gyselle, Phyxsius, Hope.andSun, GirlwithaGerman, lee&jenibee, Gsummit, M&J, Alex&Joan, Turano_family, April&Adam, Mochamich, Alex&Joan, Dianarango_17, Jay&CiCi, Mari and Kadir.

OK: so we have 37 we haven't seen in a while and 32 H&F's. If each H&F picks one or two, we seriously could see some different stats around here because maybe some of them haven't updated their timeline or haven't mentioned what's been going on for some time now.

So... without this sounding too colourful, go out and touch fondle! LOL LOL LOL (that better not get me a TOS vio either! lol lol )

Let's Go Team!

Mari

Hi Carrie!

Yes, we could use a beverage or two (give us one with a little pep!? ) lol... How's the decluttering and moving coming along? I'm much like you, very sentimental over stuff that has memories. Once I took a class and it was based on Sarah Ban Breathnach's book, Simple Abundance. There is a chapter in there that talks about blessing somebody else and yourself when you declutter (throw out, give to a friend or donate out). So we did a project where we brought some of our 'treasures that we did not need' anymore. You know how emotional that was for some of the women? A suggestion from the Pastor which I never have forgotten: "Take a picture of it and put it in your memory book or simplified [LITTLE ] shoebox of treasures! Because it's the sentimental memories that you're attached to, not the thing". This mostly was in regards to somebody's favourite things; not things like pictures or documents.

So I understand some of what you're going through. I still have much to declutter myself when I finally move out from the storage unit. The exercise above was also difficult for me btw, but I must say that after the fact, I had a very feeling of peace and much joy. Now, I have no problem giving things away and I actually enjoy it. ESPECIALLY WHEN WE HAVE MOVED... I hate to move and the less I carry the happier I am!

Much love to you Carrie!

AND we've started a fitness challenge! We'd love it if you wanted to participate with us, the more the merrier!
