That's a good idea Christine. Maybe we put one message here and a note on their profile so they know. You can get the notifications when you edit on your profile settings (?) --- check it, I can't remember. Ask Ben (rallybug) he's a techie kinda dude around here. lol

For people moving to Texas - you have a bonus if you have a French, Canadian or German driving license currently. Once you have done AOS and have your green card, you do not need to sit the written and practical driving tests. People with driving licenses from those three countries apparently only have to take the vision test, and then swap the licenses straight over.

http://www.txdps.sta...cense.htm]Texas Dept of Public Sfaety - Driving Licenses[/url]

The pertinent bit is about just over half-way down:

Currently Licensed in Another State or Country

A new resident moving into Texas, who is at least 16 years or older and has a valid driver license from another state, has 90 days after entry into the state to secure a Texas Driver License. You must:

  • Apply in person at a Texas Driver License office.
  • Complete the requirements for an original applicant (see Requirements above).
  • Surrender your VALID out-of-state learner or driver license, or a VALID out-of-country learner or driver license from France, Canada, or Germany, at the driver license office. The written and driving examinations will be waived, but you must still pass a vision exam.
    OR
Surrender your EXPIRED driver license at the driver license office. You will be required to pass the written, driving and vision exams.
  • If you are under age 18, you must pass the mandatory driving test.NOTE: For customer convenience, some locations are pre-scheduling the driving exam. Contact your local Driver License office to see if appointments are offered.

Now why France and Germany get a freebie, I don't know - I can sort of understand Canada laughing.gif

Dear Decemerite Family:

I have been reviewing all 71 pages (so far) of our posts! WOW WEE! That is a lot!!

I was quite surprised when Militarygf said she didn't know what to do after they got their NOA2 and this is what planted the seed for this idea. Anyway, since we are coming closer to the uscis goal time of 5-6 mos, I would like to submit to you this:

"Back in the day, when I was in Sorority".... we had a thing called "little sister" and the Frats guys had a 'little bro'. Now, without us getting too mushy mushy (even if we are a fun-loving, fondlerful BIG fam), I woulld like to submit to some of the more active Decemberites to check in with some of our Decemberite family who we haven't seen in a while. Let this be a positive opportunity to let them know they are thought about. Afterall, isn't it nice to get a surprise HELLO especially when it could come on a day that seems lonely without our Sweetheart, or we're discouraged from the waiting pains? So will you help me with this Decemberites?

May I suggest to find a family member we haven't seen from the list below, find their post on this thread (so they can reply directly back to your post), give a hello and encourage them. For example: NOA2' progress, wedding stuff, fitness challenge, our cookbook, etc. Wouldn't it be nice if we saw this thread with APPROVED APPROVED APPROVED? I think we can do it together!

So here are some of the 37 Decemberites we haven't really seen in a while:

Don & Julie, JPK+CAK, Mattb05, Adi+Pim, Vancedan, WMark+Carol, Stargazer, James_And_JoAnne, I+H, Soontobe, OnTheRoadAgain, DonLorenzo, BobbyA, Setherwyn, PreciousOne, AcrossTheMiles, Palladin, Mikey&Cathy, Linha87, Jani&Graham, Yllen, Dahnlor, W+M, ChrisG, Gina&Dan, Crazy_for_Iza, Tim/Mav, abbieg1K, Paul&Tonieta, Cast.linda, Neko, SammyD, MyWenie, LenaAndIgor, David92592, Tsuwa

Here are some of the more active posters who I will give a term of endearment, The "Hearts & Fondles" Team! aka: H&F's

Dizzylox, lise+michael, WendieAndSam, Bec_Dipu, M+P, KiwiBird, KiwiJen, SwissMiss2, DerekAndCallie, Kiria&Daniel, Nikolacolada, Christine+Blake, Sandl2011, USCMAviator, Rallybug, Piefre, Carrie_a, Ferincor, Kristen_Maroc, Marcia&Danny, ManilatoSeattle, gyselle, Phyxsius, Hope.andSun, GirlwithaGerman, lee&jenibee, Gsummit, M&J, Alex&Joan, Turano_family, April&Adam, Mochamich, Alex&Joan, Dianarango_17, Jay&CiCi, and Mari and Kadir.

OK: so we have 37 we haven't seen in a while and 32 H&F's. If each H&F picks one or two, we seriously could see some different stats around here because maybe some of them haven't updated their timeline or haven't mentioned what's been going on for some time now.

So... without this sounding too colourful, go out and touch fondle! LOL LOL LOL (that better not get me a TOS vio either! lol lol )

Love,

Mari

PS: Christine mentioned you might put a note on their profile in case they do not get the Thread notification. i.e., "You have a message on post # -- Dec Filer's Thread, here is link"

Hey! I've never posted on here before, so I figured I'd introduce myself. :)

I'm also a December filer, and I was wondering what happens once my I-129f gets approved.

What papers should I send to him. Once he's here, what forms should I file after we've gotten married?

If anyone could give me a guide from i129f approval until we can live a normal (meaning not having to file anything in order to be together) life, that would be great.

Christine, I know you are anxious about Montreal so I copied a post I read this morning from LuvIllinois: "I just got my packet 4 and I am officially scheduled for July 12! There were a lot of openings in April but that is just too soon for us. Then there was nothing between that and July so here I am! Excited :-D" I can say that if I got my notice today I would book in April!!! I so want to get this show on the road!!!!

Have a great day everyone! (I am still waiting for granddaughter #4 to be born...due date was yesterday!)

HEADS UP fellow Canadians,

I almost missed this post in the Canada Portal:

Getting Police Certificates in Ontario Read this if you'll be needing one soon

Posted 29 March 2011 - 09:30 PM by JlovesA

Just a little insider info...the RCMP in Ontario will no longer be providing police certificates to the public for any reason. It is possible you may find a detachment still doing them, but for those of you who will be needing one soon, I suggest just going straight to the OPP or municipality police.

Hope this helps anyone needing a police certificate soon.

Our RCMP office used to provide police checks within a day; guess I best get my butt down to the local police department...I am pretty sure it is a 3 week wait!
