Who is on the California Coastline on Tsunami Warning besides, Me and KiwiBird --- Both in San Francisco??

Tsunami to hit San Francisco, Bay Area beaches; coastal roads, beaches closed

  • By: Mike Aldax 03/11/11 7:01 AM
    Examiner Staff Writer

ocean%20beach.jpg A tsunami is going to hit San Francisco and the Bay Area on Friday morning, the aftermath of the the devestating 8.9 magnitude earthquake in Japan.

The wave is expected to hit the San Francisco area at about 8 a.m., according to Mayor Ed Lee, who spoke with the media about The City's response at 7:30 a.m. at Emergency Operations Center at 1011 Turk St.

The wave was expected to be just over a foot tall, but hit the area during low tide, minimizing damage. Evacuation of low-lying areas of San Francisco was not expected as of 7:30 a.m. Friday morning in San Francisco.

Other areas of the coast expected to see larger waves than San Francisco, according to Lee, and evacuations were in place.

Due to the threat of large damaging waves on California's coastal areas Friday morning, San Francisco police shut down the upper and lower Great Highway. The National Park Service closed Ocean Beach, Baker Beach, China Beach, and Fort Funston, according to the Office of the Mayor.

The City's Emergency Operations Center has been activated, and The City's Department of Emergency Management is in contact with the California Emergency Management Agency, the Mayor's Office said.

 ... OK .... I'm sitting here laughing because in all my efforts to prevent Bridezillas, I can't help but wonder how many of us Brides will look like Golum that little monster beast come our Big Day! LOL Can you see your husband's face when he lifts that veil? lol OMG Let me tell you Kadir would probably pass out! LOL LOL ..... This, I am certain of! Especially if I spoke in that little voice... Kaaaaaaaadddiiiirrrr... LOL. That man would haul Aaaaazzzzzz

How long will you stay in Nigeria before and after his interview? Would you consider to wait flying over until he has his Visa in hand?

Great to hear from you today.

Love to you Gsummit Crew!

Mari

Based on some reviews for the Lagos office, WHEN (not if) he is approved (in Jesus name)we could get his visa in hand within 3 days of the interview. I'd like to arrive a day or two before the interview and stay those 3-5 days until he can fly back with me to the US. Depending on how things go in the next few months I may have to wait until he has visa in hadn but I'd much rather be there in advance to lend my love and support.

Now you have me cracking up thinking of showing up for visa interview looking like Gollum/Smeagol. It burnsssss us! I dont blame Kadir for burning the road up if he lifts that veil and sees anything like that creature under there. Ola would be gone so fast there would be nothing but a puff of smoke where he once stood. Thanks for the much needed laugh

I'm the same way with Igor's List. In fact, I find myself recalculating the information myself - creating stats of what day I will be approved based on average approval times, average times without outliers or expedites, and average times with or without RFEs.

I should have majored in quantitative statistics instead of accounting.

I also get super-irritated when I see the Approximate Processing Dates underneath Igor's List...that date is totally skewed based on all the expedites or randomly processed stuff from Dec-Feb.

The good news is that all of this goofing off on my home computer excel 2007 is getting me prepared for when my company's finance department finally upgrades!

December 2010 K1'ers....

We have 2 Thread Family Members from Japan.

They are:

1. NEKO: USC is Sean, and his Beneficary is Ai

2. USMCAviator: USC is Shawn, and his Beneficiary is Sonoko

Due to this natural disaster that has devasted some of Japan early this morning, let's remember them and their families and offer any positive support we can as both Sean and Shawn await news to hear from their Brides. In fact, just as we did for the New Zealander's earthquake not long ago, let's remember ALL OF OUR JAPANESE FRIENDS.

Thank you,

Mari

For all, Sonoko is doing fine! She and all but one of her brothers are in Okinawa, thus a good distance from the devastation. She has a brother working on the mainland but towards the south and he is fine! I hope that all the other Japanese Fiancé(e)s and family members are doing fine!

It is a huge tragedy but watch Japan and her citizens closely and you will see one of the things I love about that country and culture. They will rebound quickly and more strong than before! Although to foreigners they may same shy, they are true professionals and hard workers who realize life happens and prepares for things such as this. It is bad, but in other parts of the world would have been much worse! My heart goes out to all who lost someone or is waiting to hear from someone close to them!

Thank you to everyone for the concerns! I hope to hear from the other Japanese filers that your loved ones are ok!!!

-Shawn

April 2007 - Met Sonoko in Okinawa Japan

June 2010 - I left Okinawa, relationship continued

November 12, 2010 - Wedding proposal on Sonoko's visit to USA!

December 23, 2010 - NOA1

March 22, 2011 - NOA2

March 29, 2011 - NVC sends petition to Naha, Okinawa Consulate

April 8, 2011 - Packet 3 Instructions received

Hi All,

We actually have another December Filer who has not yet come to our Thread. They are another couple who has a Beneficiary from JAPAN.

I have invited them to join us and left a message on her profile:

"Hi Ric and Tsuwa,

I hope all is well with Tsuwa and her family in Japan. Please let us know how you're doing Ric, OK?

Mari

PS: The December K1'ers are a good support team :)http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/287508-december-filers/page__st__660 "

Thank God Tsuwa wrote back:

"Tsuwa user_popup.png

Today, 02:44 AM we are OK in Fukuoka.

but my older sister and her family are in trouble. their water line has been stopped since last night.

at leatst they are alive, so I felt very reief now. "

Please December Thread Family, if you get a moment to say hello to her and Ric on their profile, please do! I think its important we stand behind and come along side our December Family especially when they could use a kind word or a prayer or two.

Thank you,

Mari

Why does it take a natural disaster for me to completely appreciate my own health and safety? I feel like I've been so ungrateful. I really hope everyone is ok!

I'm thinking of all you Decemberites with fiancees in Japan, or those of you living in areas with flood warnings.

This whole 6 months for VSC petitioners thing is majorly stressing me out. It takes a long time to get your interview in Montreal (where I will be going for mine, thank goodness its so close to me) so I am very worried about being approved in time for our 11/11/11 wedding :( We have chosen our photographer, dj, and caterer (with contracts and deposits) now, which is very exciting if it weren't for my time worries. TRYING TO STAY POSITIVE though.

So glad we all have each other, personally I think we're the best month of filers :P

I just want to say hello to all of our December family here, several times a day I check this thread for updates and information, it helps keep me company. What a dramatic and scary last couple of days it has been. I woke Friday Morning and heard “earthquake” and “tsunami” and my heart jumped and my eyes glued to the TV news and it only took a few seconds to figure out it was Japan, not near the Philippines. Then an email from my beloved Jenie Bee, everything was ok again, but not really.

It’s a small world, lives are precious and although my kids and I are safe as with the love of my life in the Philippines, my heart goes out to our friends from Japan in harms way, and also their loved ones whom are out of danger but in great pain, praying and hoping for the best.

This is a difficult journey we have chosen, so much time apart, and so many miles, but I always like to make the most of things. When we make it through this “visa journey” and we are together, our bond will be stronger and please Lord, should I EVER for one second take for granted my lovely wife, reminded me of this time and this trial we experienced in the beginning of our life together!

Godspeed to all of us, especially those directly affected by the tragic events we have been watching unfold.

Lee

PS: Keep up the good work December filers!

PSS: Jenie Bee I love you, can’t wait for our video chat date tonight!! :dancing:
