As far as vaccinations I've asked this question many times and I think what I understand is that yes you can get vaccinations ahead of time. Not from the consulate approved medical offices, but from your family doctor, or whatever is available in the country of the beneficiary.

My fiance doesn't have any medical records, so we'll probably end up getting a couple of the more important shots at the "centro de salud" (sort of like a cheap clinic for those with social security)

If you do get shots beforehand make sure to bring those records with you when you go for the interview.

I've also been told though that no shots (or only a few very important shots) are required for a K1 visa.. I'm not exactly sure which it is. But since a K1 visa is not an immigrant visa the vaccination requirements are a little bit different. The beneficiary will still have to get the vaccinations at some point but it can be done in the US.

There is so much conflicting information because I can't seem to find a spot that just has all the info needed. I can only find bits and pieces of info here and there.

But what I've written above is my understanding. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!

Hopefully it's all true, but I just rec'd an email, Post Decision Activity: "We mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)." Anyway, I think I'm super lucky if it's true.

I wish you all good luck. I really like the December Filer forum. It's so organized and friendly. I'm a January filer, but visited this one the most. Does anyone know what I do now that I'm approved. My brain is reeling. I can actually plan a wedding now... Assuming we get past all the other hurdles.

Wow I'm so jealous!!?? I wonder how some files get approved faster than the rest? Either way, congrats!! yay...

for the rest of us that will be hanging around here for a while... I'm back from the wedding planning trip to California! it was fantastic. I put a deposit on my dress, found a venue and found bridesmaid dresses all in one weekend. Even though they say don't put a deposit on anything until you have your NOA2, blah blah, our wedding is planned for January 2012 so I'm pretty sure we'll be approved by then, if not I'll march up to Vermont myself and adjucate the file. haha. (I might have to abuse my federal badge to get in the door but whatever works!)

YEAH!!!!! You're Home!!!!! (or back on the Thread with us!). Wendie, you sure got a lot done in a week, but then again, it's not that difficult to get planning when you're organized like you "Miss Wedding Linky" :luv: I'm very happy you're home.

Borders Books is closing all their stores (at least in this area with exception of 2 in SF). They're having a mega sale which I really didn't know about as I went there to look at the Bridal maggies. Anyway, I did end up getting a few perdiodicals which were discounted. One of them was "The Knot" [spring 2011 wedding stuff], and OMG that dress on the front cover is butt ugly! Ewwwww. That's just my opinion but a woman would look like a mushroom fungus that grew out of my petri dish in microbiology 20 years ago and kept on growing lifesize! Simply ugly. LOL And here's the kicker: PRICE is only $6,995.00 USD! LOL LOL LOL OH MY GAWWWWWWWWD.... heck no! Here is pic:

marchesa-dress_400.jpg

Now if any of the brides to be [here on this thread] actually does get this dress, forgive my ill-mannered opinion in advance.

OK Wendie.... that's it for now and hope your day is going well!

Love ya!

My findings so far is just what you have said, it's a gray area. In the past it seems that vaccinations was not a factor until the AOS but it now seems the powers that be are pushing to move this forward to "before POE" and I can see the logic in that. I just wish they would publish clear instructions on this matter, I don't want my Jenie Bee to get stuck with a bunch of needles only to find at the medical exam they are unacceptable. Nor do any of us want a delay in the arrival of our loved one because of vaccinations. So for now I will just keep the research going and post any new information? By the way, thank you so much!! While you're in there, and after you adjucate your file, could also do ours?

LOL yes, but I'll only agree to do those who do not whine constantly... I hate whiners. But those who wait patiently shall be rewarded. :) let's just hope VSC doesn't read VJ and learn of my evil plan to infiltrate their premises. They will probably put my file to the back of all of the stacks...

Has anyone else read the interview with a former USCIS Adjudicator under the Guides menu, Other Important Things to Know?

It's really interesting. It turns out, it only takes about 15 minutes to review a standard I-129F application. The 5-6 month wait is just because they have soooo many to look at and they don't necessarily process in date order as they're just picking the next box on a shelf. The interview is a few years old, but it's very interesting.

This whole time, I thought the USCIS was poring over our files, reading all of our letters and emails, reconciling our phone records, examining our pictures and such but they're just kind of flipping through, making sure paperwork is in order. This must be what the consulate does.

eee i got a copy of all my medical and vaccination records from my doctor today! one less thing to worry about when the noa2 comes. loving being super organised and growing to get very excited about the prospects of fingers crossed not having so many months left to wait now we're nearing march. not too long now peeps i'm sure!

i'm just indulging in spending lots of time with family and friends now, being the beneficiary, turning 'hideous waiting time until i get to be with the man i love without a looming end date' into the outlook of 'making the most of my time with loved ones that i won't be able to hang out with so often come the end of the year'. feeling positive today. hope you all are too!
