I believe it's long distance, but if you have a gmail account you can call using that for free. Number is 1-202-663-1225 then press 1 and then press 0 (if you use gmail, leave the 1 off). Then just make sure that you have your receipt number for your NOA1, and you're basic security question info.

Thanks! I'll start my calling and see if it gets me anything.

We have made it this far....we can't give up now!

Mari...for your game, Michael and I will be driving together for my POE...maybe I can get him to stop at one of the Diners, Drive Ins and Dives locations in Duluth??? I am scared to see what he would have on hand when I get there. Then we can shop together the next day. It would be a whole different story if he was coming here!

Have a great day everyone,

Lise

C'mon Lise,

You're the Queen Bee Keeper of our Decemberite Int'l Cookbook! Follow the bouncing ball.... use the ingredients that's in your kitchen [pretend it's Michael's too --- lol, which essentially, it is]. Then, come play sistah!

Love ya,

Mari

OK Big Ben,

Since you are the one who is POE'd....

You go "home" and are hungry. Gin went to work and you're on your own for the next 7 hours. You look in the food storage in the basement. You're in a romantic mood and your jet lag is over! You want to surprise her and make a fabulous gourmet dinner for the both of you.

What will you make with the following things you have found:

1. Flour

2. Eggs in the fridge

3. Corn (canned)

4. salt / pepper

5. potatoes

6. sugar

7. chili pepper-- dried.

8. box of vanilla cake mix

OK Ben, be creative! We're excited to see what you come up with!!!

Hey guys,

In regards to mari's new question!

Well.. urm damn Mari! you caught me on my shopping day..

I have.. meatballs, potatoes and lingonberry sauce ..

I guess that I could make a Swedish classic

meatballs with potatoes with brown gravy and lingonberry sauce..

simple enough :)

Meatballs you can make yourselves !

Minced meat

Egg so that the meat wont fall apart when you fry it

spices, I like mine with a bit of kick so I use chili and some garlic powder in mine

make them into round balls and fry them

Potatoes, boil them!

Gravy

Well, sometimes since I am not in Sweden anymore, I just use the premade gravy mixture that you can buy from IKEA! "dear god.. such a fob :D"

And if i don't have that then you can just make one yourself

Water / milk depends on how thick you want it

meat stock

some butter

salt

pepper

and if you dont get a brown color on it.. then you can cheat and add some soy sauce ;)

and the lingonberry sauce is something that I don't make myself. in Sweden you buy it in a can and that's it.

I got mine at IKEA once again

There you go!

Take care :]

hehe....... I'm comin' over to your house for eats! Oh by the way, when it's Thanksgiving time here in the States? ALL THE DECEMBERITES are coming to your house! LOL Just so you know...

love ya!

Okay I will play, I always have a well stocked cupboard/fridge,

I have a small prime rib roast, potatoes, asparagus for me, carrots for Michael or maybe a butternut squash stuffed with quinoa. I have apples on hand so would make him an all American Apple Pie!

This what we would have tonight if this was the night of POE...candle lit dinner for two. And Nemo would likely end up with a few droppings curtesy of Michael. She will be very excited to see him too! The first day he came to my place I warned him that I had a dog who would bark like crazy until she knew it was okay with me for him to be there, not to pet her right away because she'd dribble (Cocker Spaniel) and that the cat Diggy would likely not show his face. Well, was I wrong, Nemo didn't so much as let out a snip and was on Michael's lap in no time (she thinks she is a lap dog lol) and Diggy sauntered through the room! I was amazed!!! I have family that have not seen Diggy!! I guess that is a true sign that Michael is a keeper!

Enjoy the day, off I go to spend time with my daughter and grandkids!

Lise

I'd have to read the packet on the cake mix as I can bake my own sponge cakes from flour, sugar, margarine and eggs, but I'd still need margarine or similar for that, which isn't on the list.

Oh, good grief, looking at the ingredients of a Betty Crocker cake mix, that can join the canned corn in the trash! All those unnecessary ingredients!

I will be walking to the grocery store (1.5 miles away) or the nearest convenience store at the Walker's gas station for milk, at the very least - maybe take Pepper and Loki for a walk with me (Gin's Dalmatian and Shih Tzu).

With milk, I can make pancakes, crepes, sponge cakes, much much more sweet goodness good.gif

So, bake the potatoes in their skins

When cooked, scoop out the flesh and make into a creamy mash with salt, pepper, milk and margarine (or butter, depends what's in the fridge) and some chili pepper for a little kick

Put under the grill (broiler?) to brown off the top - hopefully there's some cheese in a back corner of the fridge too laughing.gif

For dessert, there's two choices -

1) Take the eggs, flour, milk and sugar, mixed together to make a sponge and put it in the oven to bake. Once done, I'll need to fill it, so hopefully there's some strawberry jam (jelly?) or something in a cupboard.

or

2) Take the eggs, milk and flour and make crepes or pancakes

Do I pass? laughing.gif

I'm still in Morocco, so you'd think it'd be easy, but it's not! I don't even have bread in the house!

I guess I would do a pasta, which isn't Moroccan but he loves it.

If it has to be Moroccan, a bean or lentil soup or stew. Harira, I guess.

I want to play AFTER I go shopping.

Of course, if I'm cheating and walking to the store then we get some chicken breasts, tasty hard cheese and some parma ham sort of stuff, with some spinach and green beans

Get home, slice pockets into the chicken breast, put slices of the cheese in the pockets (one slice in the chicken, one in my mouth, one in the chicken, one in the mouth, etc ) laughing.gif and dust the fillets with some of the chili pepper.

Wrap the chicken/cheese fillets in the parma ham, bacon, whatever, and put into a pre-heated oven at about 375 for 30 minutes, so that the cheese is melting nicely, and the bacon/ham has crisped up.

Cook the spinach and green beans in a little water, not too much, and drain well.

Put the greens on the plate with some butter melting on top, and the chicken with cheese wrapped in ham beside

Job's a good'un, as we say over here good.gif

Seriously, though, I think I will stick with an old standby when he comes: homemade meat sauce with pasta, salad, and fruit for dessert. Or maybe I'll "go big" and do a lasagna. He "loves" his aunt's lasagna (which is just noodles, ground beef, and tomato sauce, and a sprinkling of cheese), so I think mine will blow him away with ricotta, homemade sauce, cheese blends, etc. :)
