@Mari yay, I'm glad you got to hear from Kadir and that all is well! Hopefully he will be back home very soon!

@nicola and ferincor I think getting a lawyer could go either way. On one hand, I don't know if I could trust someone else to do all this and I would probably be all over them all the time checking in and bugging them about it :P but on the other hand it certainly is hard/stressful to do all this on my own!

I'm about halfway through all my forms for packet 3, I have my case number and all that from NVC, so I just need to get through a bit more (and create all my sheets of additions, some of those spaces for your answers are SMALL! haha) and then it will be ready for when Montreal says they have sent me the packet. I'm getting very excited about the whole thing now!

Having a girls night with a friend tonight to unwind from all this stress!

I do all my own research, the lawyer has been pretty useless, if I could go back I would either get a different lawyer, or not use one at all lol. He does fill out the forms for me and stuff but at this point I just want to do it all myself so I know that it's done right and I know when it's getting done. Right now I'm sort of at the mercy of his schedule. Oh well... enough about stinky lawyers..

a girls night out sounds soo fun, i could so use one right now. have fun on yours!

arg just sent reilly back on a coach to the airport after 10 lovely days [and a massive scratch right down his face from where my dog literally just jumped on his face when he was laying on the sofa!]. it's been an hour and i miss him so much already!!!

got some good news though. i contacted the NVC last week to check if they'd issued the LDN number yet to book the medical [plus i'm impatient and want to know every little step the file's taking!]. the file left the NVC and is on it's way to London as of last week and i got that number. i finally feel like things are moving along nicely.

one thing tho- i did a silly. we didn't make a duplicate copy of the original file [slap me on the wrist!!] though i do have all the files saved so i could reprint the whole lot - but obviously not signed and i have no idea what emails i sent as evidence of the relationship!!

anyone anticipate this'll be a massive problem? i feel like a pleb for not doing it now!!

hope all the decemberite couples are moving forward with a spring in their steps!

lotsa love!

Good Morning!

In case other VJs using the Montreal consulate are wondering about holiday closures, I have attached the link...and yes they are closed today! I had never given it a thought before, both Canadian and American holidays are observed, in a year that can add up to a lot of lost days for interviews etc...another explanation for our long waits.

Happy Victoria Day fellow Canadians!

they're firing along!!

word of advice for the medical examinations for applicants in england/united kingdom - the contact number pasted all over the knightsbridge website is not the number needed to book for us.

the number needed for US immigration medical examinations is 020 7486 7822.

got corrected by surly receptionist after i dare call the number on the contact details section!

Just had a shock - Gininda is planning on coming here in August, and then we return together for my emigration, so leaving SLC on the 18th, flying to London Heathrow, and then back again on the 23rd August (so Thursday to Tuesday).

It was just over $1000 for this flight the week before Easter (i.e., fly over to the UK on the Saturday, stay a week and fly back on Easter Sunday).

Current economy ticket cost for August?.....

$1,460!

Morning all!

OK, I'm getting a little bit pissed off at this issue that K is still in Iraq on base! I thought he'd be home in Adana by now and when I called his parents, they thought the same this morning. You wanna talk frustrated? When he called the other day he said he was waiting for standby flight; he missed his first flight out because boss did not return his Passport!!!! Now, he's still waiting--- no fone, no internet, no bloody nothing! How long does that take from that place?! By far, this WAS HELLA WORSE THAN ANY OTHER KIND OF WAITING ON THIS VJ! The NOA2, the NVC and even the letter from Embassy? That wait, was peaceful. Seriously. For those of you who do get to talk with your groom/bride everyday and some of you have been really blessed to have visited them? ... please be grateful because when you cannot communicate at all? You learn that what you have does not ever get taken for granted.

... I'm going to stop venting before I say something really ugly about K's boss! lol.

I'm going to drink my coffee, listen to my yoga music and ......B R E A T H E!

Sorry to hear that Kadir has not made it home yet, use some of that positive energey you give to everyone for yourself! I have no doubt that once vented you will B R E A T H E! You are fortunate in having the lived experience of not being able to communicate yet still maintain your love for each other and not take it for granted. This is surely making you both stronger in terms of preparing for marriage.

Sending positive thoughts and prayers for Kadir's safe return to his home and you will hear his voice very soon!

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO OUR THREAD THIS MORNING?

Someone put a post up about being removed from Dizzy's list because the relationship dissolved and then an administrator put up a post about not following the rules of VJ and being banned from further access yadda yadda yadda. Now both of those posts are gone like nothing ever happened.

I'm not sure if the two posts were connected or not, but something fishy has happened in our thread and I DON'T LIKE IT. It's especially weird if the administrator did remove the first post because it didn't seem at all offensive, just an honest request to update the list we keep. I just feel kind of funny about this whole censorship thing in general and then to find all traces of the censorship removed...well, it feels a little like 1984 (the book, not the year). Hmmmmmm...maybe I was dreaming.

Well, I'm off to destroy newspapers thereby removing all traces of history while Big Brother watches(a little 1984 humor).

Ok, here is my mystery of the day, called the NVC and was told by alive human, no record of your case give it 2 more weeks and call back. Ok fine!! :protest: So I am at my work and I go to the mail box at lunch time and there is a letter to me at my work address from NVC stating my case was received and will be forwarded to the Manila Embassy within a week. And it has a MNL case number.

So why didn't they tell me on the phone? and why was it mailed to my work address?

Weird!!

Rex (happy Rex)

PS: Marie, your day will get better!

PSS: Dizzy, go check your mail box, work too!
