Affidavit for proof of relationship

Hi everyone,

I am still sorting out all the paperwork to send to the hubby to file our CR1. I just have a few questions that I hope some members could shed some light on.

Affidavit to show proof of relationship, I live in Edinburgh, Scotland and have been trying to find some where that doesn't charge a fortune for these to be done, does any one know a place I can have these done without breaking the bank?

Also we are filing a CR1 for my child, do we need to include proof of relationship for myself and hubby in with my sons application?

you're about to file the I-130 petition right? if so, i sent my hubby G235 (Biographic info),passport sized photos (individual of me and my 2yr old daughter),Birth Cert., Marriage Cert.,that's about it. . . I think that the Marriage Certificate itself is enough to prove relationship. . .

A/ Just need birth certificate of your child, there it show your names.

A marriage certificate is not necessarily proof enough for a marriage. While you may get away with showing proof at the interview stage, the I-130 instructions specifically ask for proof of a bona-fide marriage, and they give a list of types of things that can show a real marriage.

OP: If you have other proof of a real marriage, you may decide that you don't need affidavits. Not everything on the list is required, but the instructions suggest at least one item there. Most people add more, but you don't need to get every one.

All the types of proof required for each type of application are listed in the instructions.

I have marriage cert, pics of the 3 of us at the wedding, chat logs and emails, cards. The hubby has notarised affidavits from the two witnesses at our wedding. Do you think this is enough evidence for the I-130?

I included 2 affidavits (one from a mutual friend, one from my mother-in-law) with our I-130 petition. They were very simple--typed up in MS Word, printed, signed. We didn't even have them notarized. You could have yours notarized to make them more official, but this isn't something that you should have to spend a lot of money on!

You don't absolutely need affidavits, most people who have plenty of other proof do without- you certainly have enough for the I-130, though for the interview I'd include more photos from throughout the relationship.

If you want to include affidavits, have the people write them and sign, make sure they include their contact details- no need to pay anyone, they don't need to be notarised.
