Are you really this disconnected?

You compare your options of freedom to associate... with people who have no such options.

:bonk:

Are you kidding?? This is America. If you don't want to associate with gay people, don't. If you don't want to run the risk living with gay people in the military, don't join the military! The idea that they have "no such options" is absolutely RIDICULOUS. There is NO valid reason whatsoever that THEY should have to hide to deal with YOUR homophobia. There are plenty of countries where government-sanctioned homophobia is perfectly acceptable. Thank God, America is becoming one where it isn't.

Wait, is this you trying to position straight male military members as the oppressed faction here? Do you get sore from twisting things so profoundly? The service members themselves don't give a sh*t. Congress granted this repeal like butter. The majority of the country is over it. And here you still are recommending the dark ages as the only possible way forward.

correction - 70%

The Pentagon has concluded that allowing gay men and women to serve openly in the United States armed forces presents a low risk to the military’s effectiveness, even at a time of war, and that 70 percent of surveyed service members believe that the impact on their units would be positive, mixed or of no consequence at all.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Don't you think it would be cathartic to just admit you cannot stand the idea of gay sex? And that you hate gay people with the irrational heat of a thousand flaming rainbow hued suns?

FFS. You have LOST this one. All your beloved wars will go on without a hitch, and once again you'll be on the wrong side of history with regard to civil rights and progress. If you had the capacity to be ashamed of your own ignorance and hate, now would be the time to do some slinking off, licking of wounds (no **!), and refueling for the next time you need to protest a marginalized group wanting to be recognized as equal.

Honestly, I feel faint when you remind me of the hate we have in this country. Do you recommend leeches as a cure?

Typical lIberal, rather than have a civil conversation you replies back breaking the TOS.

Seriously, do my views make you "feel faint".....

I would break out the "**" term but I wouldn't want it to wrongly get mixed up in the topic at hand.

BBBBBut you do concern yourself with your bedroom?????

(Psst)

IN the military "their bedroom" is your bedroom.

Again, they made the choice to share their bedroom. If I were to share my bedroom I would not care if the people were Gay or not. Is there something you do not understand about "I don't care" and "it makes no difference"?

Do you imagine there are no gays in the military now? Do you imagine that hundreds or thousagnds of Gays who wanted to be in the military, but weren't, will now suddenly join up? What exactly are you afraid of? What do you think will CHANGE?

I don't know about today's military, but 28 years ago any self professed ** would have gotten their head bashed in. It's the military, not some fairy bar in Frisco.

And no it's not natural for one man to "give it" to another man. Anyone who thinks that's "natural" needs a clue.

Gary please for the sake of entertainment (if nothing else) come up with some new lines, it's like no matter the topic, no matter who you are addressing, it the same three of four sentences, I know you are smarter than that.

1. People joined the military with the understanding certain things will be expected and certain things will not be tolerated, from here on out, people enlisting or reenlisting have fair warning.

2. Of course there are Gays in the military, and there are people who use Drugs or people who belong to gangs or have other associations which they are quite about, all these people probably do a good job in their work capacity.... so whats your point?

Why is Pot banned, I knew a number of outstanding Marines who got high on the weekends. In fact, in many places it is very legal to smoke a little weed, why are booting out Good Soldiers just because their piss test threw a flag?

3. you asked -what do I think will change? I don't think a great deal will change, I suspect the few Gays in the service are as dedicated as the next guy, I don't think they are looking to disrupt cohesion, but it will add complications to personnel matters in some units especially as it becomes more open. There will be some problems but don't think you will hear much about it..... except for the ones with bloodshed.

Why shouldn't they let gays in, they've let women in for years. I'd much rather have a gay man in my foxhole than a woman. At least that way I wouldn't have to carry half his sh!t and/or take extra watch so he could go warm up or get special favors from command. If I had a dollar for every time I had to "help" a female that a gay guy wouldn't have needed, I wouldn't need to be working right now, I'd be retired.

While we're on the subject, all of you "I'm so freakin happy gays are allowed to openly serve now" folks - why aren't you b!tching about women not being required to sign up for Selective Service? After all, if they're "equal" why aren't they part of the draft? Doesn't sound very equal to me.

Call your Congressman! Write your Senator! Let's get this wrong righted!

no one gets booted out the armed forces on the discovery that, shock horror, they have indulged in a heterosexual relationship! What a nonsense and the sooner it is removed the better.

Absolutely incorrect.

Many, many, MANY people have been booted from the armed forces for engaging in heterosexual relationships when they take the form of adultery, fraternization or any other unacceptable relationship. The UCMJ clearly states which relationships are unacceptable and furthermore, unit commanders and NCOs often place someone "off-limits" from service members at which point that otherwise acceptable heterosexual relationship becomes a violation of a lawful order and subjects the service member to disciplinary actions as well.

Simply put, the military has long had a tradition of saying who can and can't interact.

So, Congress passing laws about who can and can't interact is better for the military why?

I, for one, am thrilled about the repeal of DADT. It's about time America catches up to everyone else.

So, the one thing America does right - our military - is on pace to catch up with the rest of the world and you're happy about that?

I suppose you'll be happy when we have corruption, genocide and poverty as well. Or perhaps we'll be "fortunate" like other first world countries and live in a nanny state where our government tells us what we can and can't do. At least gays will be part of the dictatorship, provided our new dictators like gays.

Why do homosexuals bother you?

Posted

Wow, the homophobia is rampant on this forum!!

Here's a newsflash:

Gays are allowed in the military. Gays have BEEN allowed in the military. So long as they served silently. This means there are ALREADY gay people there. They have already been serving. They have already been NOT raping you. They have already been NOT bleeding all over you and killing you of AIDS. (Seriously, I can't believe anyone would even make an argument. Have you ever heard of ONE case of someone getting infected with HIV because someone with HIV got blown up by a roadside bomb beside them? No? Didn't think so.) This allows them to serve openly, and for them to not risk being discharged because they're gay. Again, I repeat: THEY ARE ALREADY THERE. This is not a bill to allow them to join the military. This is a bill to ALLOW THEM TO SERVE OPENLY.

And as for the natural argument - HA! What is natural nowadays? Suggesting that bashing someones head in for saying their gay certainly isn't natural. In fact, it's downright disgusting. I would invite a gay couple to live in my bedroom WITH me before I would invite a homophobe like the ones I see here.

It's funny, though, to watch people get so up in arms about gays in general, especially the ones who try to pretend they really don't have anything against gays. You do, and it's obvious, and one day soon you're going to find yourself on the wrong side of history, just like those who were against desegregation back in the 60s.

(And as for the secret service, I think it would be perfectly fine to require women to register. Take it up with your senator.)
