When did Christianity stop being evil?

I've asked this question before of those here who attack and demonize Islam, but it's never received even an attempt at an answer. Since Christianity has a history of all the evil things Islam is accused of condoning, including justification of slavery, child brides, conversion by the sword, murder of infidels, warfare in the name of Jesus, homophobia, male supremacy, etc., exactly when did Christianity stop being evil, or has it stopped being evil?

An honest discussion would be appreciated, especially since open mockery of Islam and Muslims by non-Muslims is allowed here, but Muslims questioning Christianity have been accused of provocative baiting, exposing a serious double standard censorship among the mods and posters.

Please be careful about posts in these forums. Any comments made on peoples religious beliefs( or lack off) can and does result on warnings and possible ban from here, especially if you do not fall into the mainstream. Read the TOS. I have fell foul of them in the past.

I don't think any mainstream religion that I know about is evil. Its people who do evil things in the name of religion that are the issue. I know some really horrible people that claim to be Christian, and I have known some really sweet and wonderful people that practice Islam. Every religion has had extremists. I don't claim to know much about Islam but there are some things I just don't agree with or understand...but as a Christian, I accept that its someone choice as much as it is mine to be Christian. Quite frankly, there are some things about my particular faith that I don't agree with or understand at all.

The answer is obvious to any thinking person. Problem is, I am not sure the majority out there is really capable of thinking things through, even when you hold their hand and try to lead them through. They prefer the predigested garbage that appeals to primitive instincts and that validates their ignorance rather than that which shines a bright light on the deficiencies of their closely held beliefs! Just look at how many even supposedly intelligent people listen to Limbaugh, Beck, etc. I am sure this post will piss off more than a few but I'm sorry, this had to be said!

I think it is a fair question. All religions require adherents to accept and believe in essentially irrational teachings, which possibly fits a loose definition of evil.

But the question does have a context. A better question might be "are there branches of Christianity that compare to Radical Islam?"

My answer is not really, although you do see resorting to violence based on Christian faith in the murder of abortion doctors, terrorism in bombing abortion clinics.

Im sorry but in my opinion, both islamic and christian religions (Abrahamic based) are the same.

ideologies all automatically become evil when they get labeled as a religion.Christianity,Judaism,Islam,pretty much any religion in which " membership " came with a set of exceptions and benefits,they all turned into evil acts ,used by dictators or people who wish they were dictators ( extremists such as KKK,Nazism or Taliban or any other extremist group based on religion )to dictate their wish and request based on religion.

religion is a very private part of every human being's life and its also nearly everyone's soft spot.that's why people argue that one religion is bad,one is good.unfortunately at times like this extremists abuse peoples desire to out do each other in being good and closer to god,by doing questionable violent acts,just like catholic church did in 15th and 16th century.

as much as its unfair for " Christians " ( trust me it goes beyond Christianity ) to consider Islam evil,its unfair for Muslims to consider Christianity evil.

the right question is,when did Christians stop being evil.Christianity just like Islam in itself is a peaceful religion,how people misinterpret it conscious or unconsciously that's a different subject.

In my opinion religion is flawed and was made by man to divide people into groups instead of all of us being one in the same, just human. Religion is the root of so many bad thing because people refuse to think for themselves. All these faiths made by man with the worst intentions.

The Qur'an is online so is the christian bible. Again in my opinion there is nothing peaceful about them.

The answer to the question is simple. Christianity has NEVER been evil. There was no Christianity until there was Christ. And when he got here, he changed the message to one of peace. You know, "turn the other cheek", all of that. So, there has never, ever been a time that Christianity was not a religion of peace.

The real question is, "When will we Christians start being more Christ-like?"

i was taught Qur'an for about 12 years.Christianity is 2011 years old,Islam 1400,500.you have to realize that these religions off the book are that old.the bottom line as far as worshiping goes,at least Islam advises its followers to leave other religions,as long as they are worshiping the one and only god alone.to do business with them,to take care of them,and talk to them,regardless of their religion.what these people,today's extremist Muslims are doing is nothing like they were told to do by their god,in their book.

Muslims are advised to not be physically or mentally harsh on even atheists,and this was sent by " god "( my personal beliefs about holy books and god are much different from your typical Muslim and way off board in this discussion,lets leave it at that )about 1500 years ago,for Arabs,one of the least developed and civilized people in this world back then.

Not really. Monotheism is really only a fairly recent invention. There are many other relgions in the world that have multiple gods and goddess. There would be a lot of angry people out thereif you told them your god is my god. A good way to start another fight lol
