hey fellow vjers, i just need to vent. i'm growing very impatient and frustrated, like most feel in here. my situation is i sent out my iv and aos package in aug 2010 and haven't heard anything from NVC. i have been calling them twice a month since october and they keep telling me that the VN consulate is backed up and once they send out my wife's interview letter the NVC here will send the package over to hcmc. the lady at NVC told me that january 2011 is full and that i have to try calling back in january to see if my wife's interview will be schedule for february. why so long??!!! anyone going through the same situation?

i'm flying to vn in jan to visit my wife. any suggestions of what i should take over there or do once i'm there? i think i will print out more emails, chats, and update the timeline and get it notarized to give to my wife. any feedback is appreciated.

Bad time of year for sure. It is the holidays here and they observe them at the embassy and soon TET is happening and they observe that also so it is amazing they do anything. It seems that they have been busy until recently trying to play catchup on the past petitions also. Just remember that patience is a virtue. As for what to take there is a huge thread somewhere in this forum on that very subject. Pretty much any over the counter medicine is much needed. Some perfume for the Mom is great and for some reason Cognac for the Dad is seen as a huge gift but don't expect him to drink it with you.

As for what to do that is something you will also get a lot of responses on. I am not sure where in VN you will be staying but if it is near HCMC then think about a day at Vung Tau. It is not too far and is a nice beach side town with clean beaches and huge statue of Jesus that you get to climb a big hill to go up to and then climb way up the statue to walk out on Jesus shoulder. Great scenery there. I had to rent a van as there was about 15 of us that went. (In fact pretty much anywhere I went with my fiancee we were chaperoned by about that many)

My family had to wait 3 long weeks on a small cramp boat drifting over the Pacific ocean and then 3 long years in a camp before landing our feet in America. Tell your wife her waiting today is NOTHING.

i didn't ask how your family got here, and your family wasn't the only family that went through hell to get to the States. i asked for suggestions on my post not a smart #### remark like that from you. people are stress enough with waiting to see their love ones, those kinds of comments are not necessary.

That has nothing to do with the wait time for a spousal visa. Nevertheless, you should start a new thread and write about the experience.

Hey! We're in the same boat as you. We got our IV bill on Sept 2 and it went to PAID on Sept 3. We haven't heard anything since. We did encounter one issue when I called in after a month and the machine said they were still waiting for our IV payment because of some cover letter sent in august. But, when I was finally able to reach an operator, they said our case was completed. Though, I'm currently in VN so we've been waiting together. Like was mentioned, we just review details about our paperwork and my details (family, work, etc) while we wait for the interview date. It's likely we won't hear anything until at least January. Hopefully we get good news for the start of the New Year :]

i was informed that january is not possible for my wife to receive her interview (per the NVC). so i'm writing to my congressman to see any other results. i have to thank a fellow vj member for that advice. hopefully you will have better luck! take care

Since you're a genius and can't figure out on your own, let me waste a few seconds FYI. The gov't fiscal year normally ends on September and a new one starts on October. At the end of the last fiscal year, they tried to use as much of the available funding for immigration related business; therefore lots of Visas were issued.

Guess what happens now? Timing is everything. Your interview coincides with the start of a new fiscal year. Expect DRAMATIC slowness. Bugging your Congressman won't help anything.

Unfortunately, I tend to hate whining, especially when there's no cheese available as complimentary snacks.
