UCLA Professor: DREAM Act immigrants illegal aliens will 'replace old white men'

UCLA Professor Kent Wong stood before an audience at Los Angeles' Levitt Pavilion in MacCarthur Park on Monday and spoke to those supporting federal amnesty legislation known as the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act (the DREAM Act). In his speech he said:

"We will win the dream act soon -- very soon," he exclaimed. "When that day comes, we will celebrate with millions and millions of people of people across this country who are standing with you tonight. Who stand for justice, who stand for democracy and equal opportunities for all."

"When that day happens, the young people of the DREAM Act movement, will go on to accomplish and do great things with your lives," he said. "You will go on to become lawyers, teachers, doctors and members of the US congress to replace those old white men... You are the hope and future of this country. You are hope and future of your generation."

The DREAM Act remains in legislative limbo right now after passing the House of representatives. The Senate has failed to move the legislation past a cloture vote this year and is expected to take up the bill again this week, as Senate members most recently moved to table the DREAM Act legislation last week, when supporters could not find 60 votes to overcome a filibuster.

Not yet anyway. Soon we'll become a minority and then we'll use the same ammo against the non-white majority.

"Iz it cuz I'm white?"

Affirmative action, yay.

Yes, he should

UCLA? I bet he won't even get a reprimand.

Me personally...I wouldn't fire him for this one comment, but I would reprimand him with a letter in his employee file to put him on notice. If he keeps making similar obnoxious public displays he needs to go find another line of work in something other than a taxpayer funded educational institution.

Peejay,

Guys like this.. it's never just one comment.

People have been fired or had their political ambitions squashed for saying similar things. Why does this guy get a pass?

Does the squeaky wheel get the grease? Not enough people have expressed their outrage? Surely the UCLA administration is aware of his comments?

Lots of questions, but no answers.

I don't know, but the focus on white racism devalues the struggle against racism as a whole. JMHO.

He is probably a tenured Professor and hence can not be fired for anything less than criminal offence.

It is one of the perks of the job. You basically have it for life.

yet every time some dim-wit teacher makes a comment or joke on facebook ... tenure seems to go out the window.
