Choice of Agent?

Both my Husband and I received e-mails from the NVC and on MY side, I know what I have to do (the whole pay 88$ to continue stuff..), but on my Husbands side (the e-mail he received) it wants him to appoint a choice of agent. Now, we didn't go the route of attorney and I've been filling all the papers out, etc. Should he just appoint ME or himself?

The header of the form reads:

"U.S. Department of State

CHOICE OF ADDRESS AND AGENT

For Immigrant Visa Applicants"

Thanks for your help!

You can do either. If you want to be the agent, you select "do not appoint". It's more common for the US Citizen to be the agent of choice because of mailing time, etc. but with Canada, that really makes no difference. Did you optin for electronic processing?

I agree. Its better if US citizen acts as the

Choice of agent due to mailing times.

There's really no difference in mailing time between the US and Canada but Canadian cases can opt for electronic processing at the NVC stage, rendering mail time a non-issue. In those cases, it would be wise to name the person most prepared to deal with the process, as the agent of choice.
