Fingerprint?

My hubby finally got a letter from the consulate today. Inside was a blue sheet of paper which advised him that their name search turned up more than one result and they need him to get fingerprints done.

Has anyone ever had this happen to them? How much time did that add? What happens after he get's fingerprinted?

He does have a very common name, so it doesn't surprise me, I am just wondering about the process now.

That happend to my husband also and it added about 10 working days... They check with the FBI to assure that he is not on their "crime list" ....

That happened to my fiance in Mexico but didn't happen till he was at the interview. They took digital fingerprints and consulate said would be 2 to 3 month delay. It has been 3 weeks since interview and we have not heard anything. I believe each consulate is different with their processing times though. At least you found out before the interview. Hopefully it won't take too much time. Just think at least you are getting this over with now.

You will hear a lot of different timelines, but the check can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months.

Our experience was that it took exactly one month for my husband's fingerprints to clear and for the "a-ok" for the visa.

Happened to my man because he was denied entry to the states a year ago. We were very lucky & only waited a few weeks. Others wait for much longer because the prints go through security checks in Washington.

My fiance was called back for printing when they went to his issue visa and it kicked out a name hit. That was just shy of 3 weeks ago and we haven't heard anything. They told us 3 to 6 weeks.

I had to do the same thing and the officer who took my fingerprints in Frankfurt told me they were usually back in two weeks, and that's exactly how long mine took. One week later I had the interview date in the mail...
