Ok, I know I planning way ahead as I have not even received my NOA1 in the mail yet. I have received the e-mail with a receipt number and am waiting for it to get in the system. I am planning my next R&R right now and plan on being in China at the end of next month, so want to get as much ready while I'm there. I plan to get the DS-230 filled out and ready to go while I'm with my wife and also work on teaching her how to scan and attach things to e-mails. But, I have been thinking about the AOS and whether or not I need a co-sponsor.

It's been a while since I've posted, so just a quick refresher. I am a contractor working for a company hired by the US Army in Afghanistan. The consulates told me I had to file in the US, which I did and it's been sent to the Vermont service center. I believe they are treating me like I am in the US since my mail all goes to an APO address, but not entirely sure. My contract is over in January, but will be signing one for another year. The plan is for my wife to stay with my parents if she get approved for a visa before my next contract runs out. However, this means I am not planning a long time employment overseas and we plan to start our own business when I return to the US. Should I plan to have a joint sponsor to begin with or will me having a job be enough even though it will be over in a year.

Again, I know I'm planning way in advance, but trying to get it all ready as I can add one to two weeks on any mail I send to the US. We mailed a letter to each other right before Thanksgiving as I wanted to see if they would make it and how long it would take. Neither one has been received yet. So the more I have ready to go and less which has to be done through the mail the better.

Thank your for your time
