Hello Everyone.

I decided to start this new topic, specially because I heard of a case in Colombia of a lady being requested the MML (migratory movement letter)of the petitioner. So I wonder If somebody else in Colombia has had the same case. I have my interview Jan 5th and I have got my MML but I don't know and I haven't seen such case in which you have to show that letter of your husband .As I know the beneficiary in this case (Colombian wife)is the only one that has to get the MML at the DAS office.

I would appreciate any opinion from My Dear Colombians out there.

Diana

Bogota Colombia.

My wife's interview is Jan 5 as well, and this topic caught my eye. I just can't figure out the answer!

Hey guys that's really cool. First time I see someone else for same day...where is your wife from exactly?. I am from Bogota but I am staying in hotel with my husband. he is coming with me to the interview.

I posted the topic because I saw lady in that case today and it kind of worry me a little...since it is a new thing. I mean I never heard of it. Like the interview package doesn't mention such document for the husband that in this case is the petitioner.

My wife lives in Armenia. As it is now, my wife is going to DAS to get another MML, because the one she sent to me that I submitted to NVC had been opened by someone, somewhere en route. Then I see this topic and I wonder if she should get one for me.

Actually., I went alone to the interview but as proof of the many times he went to visit me to Colombia I asked him to scan his passport so they could see it, (they never asked for it, though,) I was gonna get his migratory certificate but he was not able to come, but just in case, they just need the benefiiary's one (colombian) not the Us citizen. Do not worry, sometimes they dont even ask for proofs. Good luck!!

yeah It is a coincidence, because I did the same. I sent the sealed envelope to my husband to send to NVC, but just to make sure I got new one.

Mary thank you so much for your opinion. My husband is coming with me to the embassy. And to be honest I think his passport is enough evidence.

Folks, it's very simple, follow the package IV instructions. It is on the website and stated clearly. Every Colombiano/a needs the DAS migratory record. Some people may have multiple passports therefore this is why it's required. It takes an average of three days. My wife is from Pereira and got her's in 3 days. It is required. When you get notice of NVC approval ask for this record and you won't go wrong.

Dianita, I understand your concern. I have also read of the Consular Officer asking for a Migratory Certificate from the Petitioner. In that case, the K-1 visa was approved but the additional requirement of the Migratory Certificate caused a substantial delay. One very knowledgeable poster here on VJ has said that the instances when this is requested are so few that it doesn't warrant the additional hassle and expense of getting the certificate. I understand and appreciate this viewpoint, but I would prefer to have it and it not being needed than to not have it and it is requested. My interview is on a Wednesday and I plan to be in Bogota to request it the Friday before.

Does your husband hold temporary/permanent residence in Columbia as well as being a USC? The US consulate is aware (I assume) if any US national holds a parallel Colombian residency permit, so as part of documentation, this may be the reason this certificate of migratory movement would be requested of the USC petitioner as well. Not sure of the entry/exit procedures, but for example, here in the US, a green card holder does not have his foreign passport stamped when he/she enters the US after being abroad....so maybe this is the same is Colombia. Then, such a document as this certificate of migratory movement would act as proof of entry/exit into the country.

Wayne and Claudia.

Thanks for your opinion Wayne and Claudia, but there seems to be a tiny posibility in which the beneficiary (Colombian wife) could be requested the MML of the Petitinoner (US citizen). I already have mine but I don't have the one of my husband. and it doesn't say in the package intructions that you have to get it for your hsuband either, just for the wife (Colombian).
