Hi

I just returned from a good trip in Georiga. I was married in Tbilisi and decided not to wait for the Fiancee Visa requirement:)

We went to the American embassy and we were told that the Fiancee Visa would take 3-5 months

and a Spouse Visa would take 5-7 months. This was told to us by the Consulate in Tbilisi. I noticed the I-130 takes 5 months so I am assuming the NVC and acquiring the Visa takes 2 months.

Since we are newlyweds and we both are in our early 50's and we are hoping this is not a long drawn out process.

I have seen different timetables but I was wondering if the consulate in Tbilisi was accurate in the time frame??

It really does depend. I assume this means you arent doing DCF filing, instead filing in America?

If this is the case, the USCIS website stated it takes 5 months for the I-130 approval. It can take 3, it can take 6, you just never know. The NVC is pretty much as quick as you make it. There is a LingChe shortcuts guide which can help you get through the NVC in just a couple of weeks if youre really proactive.

Then the interview. Depends if there is a backlog in Georgia. If not, it shouldnt be long to an interview date!

Theres a lot of people who experience Requests for Evidence (RFE's) and Administrative Processing (AP), which can delay the process, but also many who breeze through!

The general timeline on VJ is 8-10 months, but like I said the average is brought up when people experience AP's and RFE's

Good luck! Be procative and youll get along just fine!

THX

The NVC I will plan ahead. I am just not sure what documentation I will need. The wife is in Georgia so I will not be of much help to her since I am in America. Thank god for her 2 son's the oldest who is fluent in English.

There is no back-log in Georgia since I think in the last year there has only been 1 I-130 petition filed.

The evidence of marriage I sent 2 letters from my parents and there was actual foto's of us signing the marriage document..

I don't have the copies, but the 2 witnesses to the marriage are in Georgia and they have notarized copies of their documents.

I guess I could have sent copies of the airline tickets etc.

I am hoping and praying for a quick approval.

Gamarjoba! Rogor xar?

I am in the same process as you are starting now! I married my wife last December in Georgia. I applied in August of this year after her university was over. We are starting month 4 of our waiting for our I-130. We tried to go the route of a Tourist Visa and asked about a Fiancee Visa, but they told us we should file for the I-130 since we are legally married in Georgia. I am really hoping by next month we get our approval and we already have all the other paperwork filled out and ready to submit to the NVC once we are approved.

I am going to Tbilisi next week to spend the holidays with my wife for our anniversary and New Year's. I recommend it! Freedom Square on New Year's is a great concert!

LOL take me with you haha

I love Tbilisi

I still get depressed because I am in Seattle and not in Georgia.

Have fun and enjoy, I know I will be making future trips to Georgia

In the last year only 2 people have applied for Visa from Georgia.

I assume you were the one and now I am the second!!!!!!!!!!
