My husband is ready to start working, but he is certainly not bored. We have the OH SO AWESOME (sarcasm, and they're moving out in a few months) situation of having roommates. He is pretty much my house husband right now ;). The roomies cause me a lot of stress, so he is AWESOME about keeping household chores (indoor/outdoor) down to a bare minimum for me to keep my stress levels down. He's been helping me get A LOT of projects finished that I have either had no time or motivation to finish for quite some time.

He's also a little bit of a different situation when it comes to work because he was a full time care giver for his mom for YEARS. She's been quite ill a long time, and needed help, so he was only working part time when he came over. :)

Well, we waited about a month before we got married. Then I faffed about with the paperwork another 30 days or so. We just wanted to get the NOA before the I94 expired. Because I'm weird about things like that. :P

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

LOL, we got married and filed AOS in the last week of our 90 days. We were just lazy after the K1 process and wanted to enjoy the break. In hindsight, we probably should've done it sooner as the adjustment was harder, but if Rob is fine with the wait... enjoy!

Yeah, the I-94 expiry was what really got the fire lit under us. Nik had basically all the forms done before he came over, and it was just a matter of getting the CS worked out, which we didn't start working on untilnearly 30 days in. So, I give Nik the list, and he calls around some, and they are all demanding the whole physical, so I call around, and finally find someone, but they are backed up for a few weeks etc, and so finally get it sent off with just a couple weeks to go in the end....

You bunch of slackers!!! We mailed ours on his 9th day in the US. :innocent:

Just kidding you guys. We all have our own timelines. I had 2 months from when he got the visa until he came, so had it pretty much ready. I was so sick of it, I had to force myself to make a photocopy and go mail it. And that's the biggest reason for not submitting an I-693. I would have rather had an RFE than chase down one more piece of paper . So it was a rebellious thing to do at the time, but it worked out well and we didn't have to go get one.

Jill, do it the week after Christmas. Forget it for now and enjoy waiting for Santa to come.

Well, Some people (like us) have to try to be ready to mail it the day after the wedding just to actually get it in on time. ;)

Oh it's about this bad-- (copied from my list):

I-485 (Adjustment of Status)

Photographs (2) of immigrant (passport type)

Photocopy of birth certificate of immigrant with translaton

Photocopy of passport biographical page and K1 visa page

Form G-325A Biographic Information Sheet (immigrant)

Form I-864 Affidavit of Support (by USC) with photocopies of supporting documents: This varies by each applicant so here's generic suggestions

---Employment letter

---3 tax returns including copies of W2s
or
tax transcripts (Photocopy)

---six recent pay stubs (Photocopy)

(If needed)Form I-864 Affidavit of Support (by Co-sponsor) with photocopies of supporting documents:

---Proof of co-sponsors citizenship/status, ie US birth ceritificate, bio page of passport, naturalization papers, or LPR status

---Employment letter

---3 tax returns including copies of W2s
or
tax transcripts (Photocopy)

---six recent pay stubs (Photocopy)

Photocopy of I-797 Notice of Action, I-129 Petition Approval Notice from USCIS (That's your NOA2)

Certified copy of Marriage Certificate (or a photocopy of a certified marriage certificate)

Photocopy of Form I-94 Arrival/Departure record (card from the plane, may be stapled in passport)

Form I-693 with the immunization section filled out by a US Civil Surgeon, signed and sealed by him. Read the instructions for the form.

or DS
-3025 from visa medical if all shots were completed and are recorded on that form

I-765 (Employment Authorization)

Photographs (2) of immigrant (passport type)

Photocopy of passport biographical page and K1 visa page

Photocopy of Form I-94 Arrival/Departure record

I-131 (Advance Parole travel document)

Photographs (2) of immigrant (passport type)

Statement of circumstances that warrant issuance of advance parole
("return home in case of family illness or emergency")

Photocopy of passport biographical page and K1 visa page

Photocopy of Form I-94 Arrival/Departure record

G-1145, E-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance: if you want to be notified when they receive your applications

And a check for $1070 made out to the Department of Homeland Security

That's 3 separate applications with supporting evidence all mailed together in one envelope with one check. They will get processed in different places, so that's why the duplication of evidence. You don't have to do all three, but the second two are free if sent with the AOS and will get you authorized to work or travel sooner than waiting for the green card to arrive in most cases. Green card could take 4-6 months. Work and travel 60-90 days.

Do not work until the I-765 is approved and you have the EAD card. Do not expect to get a drivers license (in most states) until EAD or greencard is received.

Do not leave the US until the I-131 is approved (K1s) and you get the travel documents or you will not be allowed back in. Once you have a green card, then no problem.
