What to bring for the interview??

Hello my interview is Jan. 13th. I was wondering what I should bring to the interview. In the interview letter they ask me to bring 3 passport picture, the letter and my passport. Then I the letter I have a kind of check list of all the papers that I sent in the * Document Status Description and NOTICE TO VISA APPLICANTS it says that:

Visa Interview Requirements

XXXX XXXXX XXXXX must bring the following to the visa interview:

* Any original documents that were requested by the

NVC

but were not submitted

to the

NVC

* The medical examination results if not submitted to the Embassy/Consulate by

the physician

* The correct size and number of photographs

* Valid passport for all traveling applicants

The following table lists the documents requested by the

NVC

and whether or not the

NVC

received them. Please note that even though the applicant may have provided

the

NVC

with a copy of a document, the applicant is still required to bring the

original document to the visa interview.

In the list the received all the original and it doesn't say to bring the document for example there is a ''I = The required form is incomplete. Please ensure that a complete form is presented at the interview.'' but for all my documents it says ''Y = The required document has been received''. So should I bring all those documents anyway or don't bother and just bring what I was ask in the interview letter??

At MTL (I had my interview there), bring EVERYTHING!! My police record was checked as being received by the consulate on my interview letter, and when I got there they said all they had was a copy... I got a 221(g) for a new police clearance. Soooo I had to go home, and mail it to them with my passport, and with the way Montreal is, it took an extra 3 months to get my visa.

I would bring originals of everything you've submitted thus far just to be safe. As well as the other items they've requested (3 photos etc...)

i brought everything I could think of.

i brought everything I could think of.

I probably overdid it but I brought copies of all forms we originally submitted from I-130 to all NVC forms. I brought duplicates and photocopies of all civil documents (birth certificates, marriage, divorce etc.), updated tax and employment information (even though they did not request it on the checklist we were asked for the most recent tax return..we finished NVC before tax season and interviewed after so that is why) extra passport photos and a folder full of evidence spanning 10 years (none of which they looked at.) Better safe than sorry!

In a blue small document folder I had

1)Appointment letter and copy

2) passport and COPY

3)Medical Report

4) Original DS-230 and copy

5)Original i864 and COPY

6) Original Marriage certificate and Copy

7) Original PCC and copy

8) Original Birth Certificate and copy

9) Photocopy of my passport biographic page

10) Financial documents ( Tax Return + Employment letter + Paystubs), I brought a copy as well.

11) 3 passport Pictures and Copy

12) Express Post Envelope If you are not using DHL

(I had custody records and court records as well)

In a expanding folder I had :

1)Joint Checkings account statements

2) flights/car/bus tickets

3)cards from each other and family

4)4 albums of pictures of us

5)money grams,western union from my family to him/us

6) 2 letters from my family

7) receipt of my engagement ring purchase

8)emails

9)chat logs

10)phone records

11) His lease which I am on

and more but I cannot exactly remember

No - but if you have originals and copies ready of everything you can easily provide them with anything they ask to look at.

Bring it all, and keep it organised.. they get reeeallllly annoyed if you have to search through stuff in front of them. I would definately bring everything. As the saying goes... rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. ESPECIALLY where montreal is concerned.. it could cost you anywhere from 2-3 months if you need to send something in after the fact.

Yes - US immigration is interested in whether the US spouse can prove they can support the person they are bringing into the US. They are not interested in the Cdn spouse's or fiance's Cdn income that they made while living in Canada - basically you won't be working in Canada once you move to the US so it's kind of irrelevant- hope that makes sense.
