My employment contract is up and is renewable for 6 months. We have filed DCF and are waiting out the process. If I sign my contract and leave then I will have to pay back my bonus. As soon as we get my interview, I get 6 months to cross. But instead of crossing, can I go to the Edmonton International Airport and do my POE without leaving Canada? Or is there another way to do it without leaving Canada? And do I have to pay anything more if we have not been married 2 years when I do a POE?

As POE means Port of Entry I doubt that you can do anything without actually ENTERING the US. I suppose you can't have your cake and eat it too, you'll have to choose, your bonus or starting your life sooner together in the US.

SOME canadians have gone to a DRIVING crossing. Activated their Visa at that land crossing and turned around and come back to canada. To do POE in an airport you have to check in for your flight and pass the customs area, you cannot go to customs in an airport. It depends if you have a nice person or a not so nice person generally. As to if they will let you activate your visa without going to the US permanently. It has only been done with spousal visas.

Some of the airports in Canada have US Customs pre-clearance so there is no entry onto actual US soil until you land.

Timmies, you can always try calling the US Customs at the airport and ask.
