Did you submit tax returns or IRS transcripts? A lot of recent RFEs seem to be for clarification of income, the transcripts seem to satisfy them more even though the same info is on the tax returns. You might want to order them now (for free, by calling the IRS) as they take about 2 weeks to get to you, if you don't end up needing them you could always toss them.

I was going to ask you that dr_lha,

I remember you said that you followed the so called "new guidelines" and only submitted the most recent tax return with the I-864 (therefore no transcripts, employer letter, pay stubs etc...) and yet you DIDN'T get an RFE??......... yet I did and it seems lots of others are getting similar things

I just don't understand this system?!!!

I'm still p*ssed at following the 'new' guidline rules for the I-864 (therefore doing everything correctly) and STILL getting an RFE!!!!

so much for those new rules, they're not worth the paper they are written on in my opinion!

Yeah, I actually think I provided less than required even under the new system. My wife is a student and as such has no income, I've been working in the US for 7+ years, so we used my income to prove the sponsorship level (her income was $0 last year, so it was all me). I believe in this case, self sponsors are still required to include the employment letter, to prove that they will continue to be employed in the future.

However, I only submitted 2005 1040 and W2. Not only that, I also forgot to send in my 1099s (although they only amounted to about $80 of my income).

Hence why I was genuinely surprised (and very happy) not to get an RFE. BTW - i also filed the older forms as I didn't notice the new ones had come out! I guess I got lucky. :)

oh I see dr_lha, I thought you had followed the new guidelines........... I think people on VJ need to be warned about these so-called fantastic time saving new guidelines before they submit their AOS's!
