If we are too complex to have evolved then how do you explain the origin of the designer? But if you are referring to the possibility that our own evolution could have been influenced at some point by other highly evolved and intelligent life in the universe I would agree, we don't know.

The fact I that will not be judged by a Chinese speaking marmot with 17 legs when we die is easy to accept - so why not accept that all this other stuff they feed is equally rejectable ?

It's really all very easy to say what isn't and we don't need to know everything that there is.

There is no god and that is very de-stressing as I don't have to worry about eternal fires etc

The bureau of statistics says non believers live longer than believers because they are not stressed by that issue

My experience with Christians has been very good and the amount of charity they do around the world is astounding. If you talk to Christians like you do on this board I could totally understand why they might have a "distinct down" on people like you.

Sure your going to reject stories of a 17 legged Marmot or Jonah and the whale but why reject the notion of intelligent design.

I'm a Christian and I consider myself open-minded and I look forward to honest discussions. The topic of this thread was initially very interesting. It seemed like a valid question.

However, I have to conclude that the original question was merely a way to start a religion bashing thread.

Throughout this thread I have read countless insults to religious people but the most remarkable thing to me was the statement about non-believers not being immoral. Maybe it's just me, but if people are going to be this insulting then I feel they must cede the moral high ground to others. Unless one considers being arrogant, rude and offensive to be evidence of high moral character.

Point awarded to believers of all faiths for just being nicer people.

If I mention that I hope the OP meets a nice Christian one day, it's turned into something else about air headed "nice" Christians who are also stupid. And then I guess the other Christians are just fire and brimstone preachers to him. There couldn't possibly be any intelligent, kind, yet street smart Christians to meet I guess(sarcasm). My laughing is not even a very nice gesture as a Christian, but I can't resist.

Genesis is interesting, in that it combines at least two creation stories. In one story, there is Adam and Eve, sent out to, "Be fruitful and multiply," in a newly created world devoid of humans. In the other story, their sons are encouraged to take wives from among the neighboring tribes. To make all this come together reasonably, you could conjecture that the seven day creation story was some sort of alien built bio-dome (Eden), where the human specimens disregarded the ground rules, and had to rejoin the human population back on Earth.

Stina, I think it has more to do with people who would rather this forum be a playground than actually having a real discussion. This is their playground. They are bored and looking for every opportunity to kick sand in someone's face.

I think that's true of some, but it seems that the OP seriously has issues with Christianity, as well as other beliefs - not sure it's a playground act in this case since it's been an ongoing issue for awhile. I could be wrong.
