Hi

I'm a 32 yr old American and bought my gf in Amman, Jordan an engagement ring. I was wondering if I would have trouble getting it through customs. If I will be charged a tax and if I need to take any documents for it. What ever else I need to know about it please let me know.

Also I would like to know if I need an international driver's license for Jordan to rent a car or will my state license be fine? I read that I just need the state license for there but can someone please confirm it? Or send me to a reliable source. I'm not quite sure the source I had is reliable.

I would like to take her to Petra to propose. I know she always wanted to go there and hasn't so I would like to take her there. Is Petra a good place to propose? Any suggestions of where at in Petra? I realize Petra is broken up into different areas. I was thinking the Sig would be nice.

Thanks.

Ring is personal property, you are not importing it for sale, simply treat it like all your other baggage, and do not claim it.

Get an International Driving permit, many countries require it.
