Hello VJ friends...

after reading many entries here, am finding conflicting information for the fees that you have to pay when you go in for your interview at the American Embassy in Rio de Janeiro...we have already paid $404.00 for my wife and two kids visas each...anybody that has had their interview recently..how much did you pay?

Thank you very much?

NEVER GIVE UP!!

You PAID the fees to NVC, and SHOULD NOT be paying the again at the consulate. PERIOD!!! The only time consulate takes fees would be in DCF cases where the fees are not paid to NVC, or in K-Visa cases for NON-Immigrant visas.

They SHOULD KNOW THIS.

hi,

What you paid was to be brought into the process now you have to pay the fee of the interview that are $ 350, not sure but I believe they will have to pay 350 for each.

Good Luck

NO!! They are doing a CR-1 visa NOT a NON-Immigrant K-Visa, there is NO visa fee paid for a CR-1/IR-1 visa at the consulate.

Thanks Daniel :-)

I have read that some people paid $30-40 after their interview was done in the embassy in Rio, but my wife (lives in Brasil)read and/or was told by a friend that had an interview in Rio, that she paid like $300 dollars for her interview, but I think hers was for a K-1 visa, not a CR-1...so thats why am trying to find more information about it.

Thank you and have great holly days! :-)

Yes $350 for K-Visa.

Some consulates charge a fee to mail visa packet, so may be what the $30+ fee was for.

I think you will have to contact the consulate in Rio de Janeiro, what I have read and understand exactly how this was the site of the consulate. And better to send a message from the consulate:

Forms for K3 visa

IMPORTANT:

From June 4, 2010, the K visa applicants must pay the new rate visa (MRV) of $ 350. Each visa applicant who has already made K1/K2/K3/K4 payment of U.S. $ 131.00 old will have to pay the difference at Citibank before the day of your interview. The difference may NOT be paid at the Consulate.

Do you need to pay or not?

I don't remember how much, but there is a small fee paid to the visa courier service. They will deliver your passport with your visa inside to your house. Maybe they can send them all together for your wife and kids, and you would just pay one fee, but they may insist on sending them separately. Since we did K1 I don't know about the $350 fee, but it sounds like others have knowledge of this, and it is not necessary to pay for CR1 at the consulate.

Did you get your interview date yet? If not you can email the consulate, and they will tell you the scheduled date. They reply pretty quickly.
