Gunman enters school board meeting...

as I said...Washington does not allow anyone to carry guns without a permit.

There was exactly ONE police officer killed in the line of duty in Washington in 2008. 7 in 2009 and 2 in 2010. Granted, that is a whole lot more than Vermont, but I hardly think you can say they are "dropping like flies"

Nationwide, car accidents far outnumber gun crime as the reason for death on duty.

Your story sounds all exciting and stuff...but it just isn't so.

Read this and report back - the internet is great isnt it ? No ?

Its not an isolated incident. My link trumps yours and then some.

No it does not. It reinforces my post. They were 4 of the 7 killed in 2009. In fact, other than this obviously very isolated incident, there would have been only 3 officers killed in 2009 and one of them was killed in a car accident.

Washington, which has pretty lenient gun laws obviously is a fairly safe place to be a police officer. Not as safe as Vermont where everyone can carry guns, but hardly a shooting gallery. Again, I think you are way over dramatizing.

Yes, the internet is great. Use the site I posted and go back in time to the last time a police officer was killed in Vermont

That aside, you haven;t answered WHY people in Washington have such difficulty with adult responsibilities.

Time probably better spent packing a lunch for their children, eh?

Meanwhile the rest of the 1st world seems to manage their adult responsibilities of providing health care for each other and not walking round armed and ready to kill people on a daily basis. What a horrible way to live.

I have a concealed license but I don't swagger about trying to look tough with an ankle holster, looking for a reason to blow someone's eyes out - it's in case I knock a deer down and have to finish it off or if I have a pistol and mags together in some technically dodgy way when I am stopped on my way to and from the range.

I think most young men who carry guns are cowboy fantasists and would be sick if they saw a dead body.

It's time they sold their stroking weapons and sent the money to Amnesty International to help other people instead of confronting them with a gun - now that would be carrying out an adult responsibility.

Anyway it's time for some leg over and chips which is more constructive

Post containing personal attack has been removed. Come on, everyone, you know better!

Come on now that was all in good fun. I have never seen him before so he has no reason to take it personal.

I WIN!!!!!!!

While you are at it, see if you can think up a NEW law to prevent BOTH the police officers in Washington from being killed next year.

I don't have a concealed license. I don't need no stinking license. I can swagger around without anyone's permission. I'm too old to be a young man with fantasies

However, nudity is also legal in Vermont (they just had the end of semester "naked bike ride" in Burlington this weekend...brave souls, it is damn cold out there! But..hey...300 naked co-eds on bikes in December, you gotta love Vermont  ) and I have had a fantasy of going grocery shopping naked...except for my gun! So far I have restrained myself from torturing the local population with THAT sight.

I don't like ankle holsters, kind of stupid really and they are a terrible way to carry a .45

I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.

But it is what English Dandy's living in the "wild wild west" think. Raeding a bit too much Louis Lamour I suspect. Rather like "English Bob" from "the Unforgiven"

FYI, I donot carry a gun concealed to shoot deer I whack with my car. Or because I can't figure out how to carry a gun to the range. I have never heard anything so ridiculous. A concealed weapons permit for "sporting purposes".

English Alan should check his state laws that he is so concerned about complying with. If you hit a deer and inujure it with a car, it is strictly ILLEGAL to shoot it. Better to carry a 1" x 12" black steel pipe nipple in the "boot", eh?

You actually went to the lengths of researching Washington state law on fallen deer to prove him wrong? Priceless.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Odd is right but seems to be the way some people process information and arguments. Take the least important, most random fact you can find and try to prove it false thereby negating everything previously posted in one fell swoop and declare yourself the winner of the argument. That's one sad attempt at a power trip.

No.

I have been a hunter in this country for almost 50 years. In many states, including Washington. I am also a certified Hunter Education Instructor in four states. I know the law because it is something that interests and concerns me.

Funny that you think it is so interesting that I know the facts, but have no comment on Alan's obvious stretch and made up "facts". THAT is priceless.

It is also ridiculous in the extreme to try to state that one has a concealed weapons lisence so he can shoot a deer he might hit with a car. If i lived in a state where I had to ask government permission to carry a concealed handgun, I would do so, but not to shoot deer.

The purpose of carrying a handgun is to KILL someone that would threaten your life or that of your family. Period. The purpose of concealing it is so the bad guys don't KNOW who has a gun and have to take the risk that you might, or that I might be near you and I have one. I will not try to ludicrously state that it is for sporting purposes. If one cannot come to grips with the reason for carrying a concealed handgun...leave it locked up at home and hope that someone that can handle the truth is nearby with their gun when you need it.

We see a good example of that in the video at the beginning of this thread. People that threaten others lives should be killed as quickly as possible. When that happens, it is a GOOD thing.
